Not sure what Trump is doing here.

Sessions works for him so why not take the issue up with him directly...unless there is another goal.

And considering Trump's penchant for manipulating the media, I would definitely think that, yes, there is another strategy at work here.

I can’t imagine Sessions without marching orders. Instead he’s gone off on a “Law & order” spree which is a favorite of politicians trying to give constituents the impression they’re doing something on their behalf. Trump fired a shot across Session’s bow with the tweet. Maybe the rumor about Giuliani is true. That might be a nightmare for Hillary.

Sessions was never a prosecutor. Giuliani was.

I would think that by taking this public, Trump is putting public pressure on Sessions to resign. This would look better than Trump having to fire him. It also puts public attention back on the Clinton crime family, which has been swept under the table for a couple of decades too long. Evidently Trump has decided the butt-hurt RATS have had long enough to nibble at his toes with their “RussiaRussiaRussia” BS, and it’s time to fight back. Go for it, Mr. President! Lock her up!

I think you might be right. If Trump and Sessions are playing theatre, then what is the objective?

What or who are they trying to set up?

An unrecusal by Sessions?

A “firing people” culture so they can go after the obama & never Trump holdouts in the exec branch?

I thought the same thing.

Trump is either setting another red herring out for the media or setting up the case to remove Sessions.

Maybe, but Trump would be running the risk of turning his tweets into noise.

Yeah, the strategy IMHO is that since Sessions can’t actually do what’s needed or desired after the Russia recusal, Trump would like to replace him as he’s fed with the entire hoax.

Trump has decided replacing the AG probably during the August recess will be the means to see undone the Mueller investigation into every financial aspect of himself, his aides and family.

There’s no Russia collusion evidence. It would be leaked. The only leaks we’re seeing are the attempts at trying to intimidate others to turn on Trump re: Manaforte.

Trump has had enough. He’s playing chess here.

Sadly, I truly wish AG Sessions wasn’t placed in this box. He’s an honorable man and came out for Trump before any notable nationally elected official.

You've almost taken the words out of my mouth. History shows that Trump is a strategic player who misleads his enemies into believing that he is flailing while he channels them into trap after trap. Twitter gives Trump a strategic weapon that cannot be hidden or suppressed, and which instantly dictates the new narrative for the enemy media. Trump's enemies are certain that they are winning, until suddenly they are not. As before, time will tell.

I believe it will help provide Sessions cover for when Sessions does unleash a real Clinton investigation. After all, who can blame Sessions for going after Hillary when Trump embarrassed him in front of the world?

Here's a pleasant fantasy of mine. One day soon we wake up to the news that overnight there were numerous arrests of high profile political, media and entertainment persons. Charged with the federal crimes that we always hear about but never see acted upon by federal law enforcement. We hear that Bill and Hillary are targets of separate investigations. We hear about suicides by other high ranking people seeking to avoid the embarrassment of arrest and trial.

Then we learn that Sessions and a cadre of prosecutors and FBI agents have been putting this together since the day he was installed as AG and that the President has been poking Sessions so that the targets would think the justice Department was in disarray and they were free and clear. And then...BOOM the hammer drops.

Pure fantasy but it makes me feel good to think about it.

It’s hard to believe he hasn’t. My best guess is that Trump’s got something going on that we don’t know about.

Not sure what Trump is doing here.

Maybe the plan is to make all the rats go on record as siding with Sessions... then boom, Sessions announces indictments of a boatload of corrupt swamp people.

It'll be harder for them all to bash Sessions after they've been loudly supporting him due to their belief that he's independent and not doing Trump's bidding.

Just a thought as to what *might* be the plan... Trump's pretty good at being a few steps ahead of everyone else, and this sort of tactic wouldn't surprise me at all.

I am not sure what the President is up to either. Isn't he the one that reversed course and said that he would NOT pursue charges against Her Thighness. Now he his acting all gung hoe to get her.

Trust me, I am all for having her bought up on charges related to the Benghazi murders, the selling of uranium to Russia and the host of other charges. Also, feel that AG Sessions should be going full bore to weed out the corruption and bring the traitors to their knees or end of a rope.

Sessions works for him so why not take the issue up with him directly...unless there is another goal.

People keep going for the 3D chess option even though it's not the simplest explanation. Simplest explanation is that Sessions, in private talks with Trump, or else subsequent to private talks, is refusing to take action or has demonstrated laziness or lack of obedience in some form or fashion. Obviously Trump isn't communicating with Sessions solely by tweets, and Sessions must have done something--or failed to do something in response to an order by Trump--that is generating these public attacks. Trump is painting Sessions now as a political opponent and will likely remove him.
