It is, but your attitude towards government using taxes as a punitive weapon against things they dont like is far more disturbing.
It is the same crap ideology behind ammo taxes, extra taxes on guns because of gangbanger violence, extra taxes on vehicles with big engines, etc etc.
Same reverse crap on big brother subsidies for things it likes, such as electric/hybrid cars, and other crap.

I’ve been against this type of tax since the early 90s,but it was cigarette taxes and no one gave a damn then so why on earth should I give a damn now.
It seems folks are ONLY against these taxes if it’s on something that they like,if they don’t like the product taxes are just fine. That’s hypocritical.

Even here on FR there are those that approve of cigarette taxes,which are very high in many places.
