“Many online companies sell products and there is no sales tax. Unfair to local businesses that have to collect taxes.”

Apples and oranges. If they are located in that state, they have to collect taxes as well. If not they don’t.

If you bought something in Texas that was taxed in NY, but not in Texas, would you still pay NY the tax when you got home?

Silly rabbit, of course you wouldn’t. If you go to that store in Texas via the internet, you think they should collect and pay NY taxes? Oh, you do? Why?

In NY the law says as an individual you have to report and pay those missed taxes (NYS misses them) on your state tax return, LOL, HA!, HELLarious (sic) I wonder if they have actually collected one dime per that dumb law.

I’ve been involved with ecommerce almost 20 years. I know how the game is played. It is not a level playing field.
