Charlie Gard will be allowed to die after his parents today made the heartbreaking decision to let him 'slip away'.
Chris Gard and Connie Yates arrived at the High Court in tears as they ended a campaign to save his life that has touched millions around the world.
They have battled for six months for their beloved 11-month-old son to be flown to the US for pioneering drugs to treat his rare strain of mitochondrial disease.
But they have now decided to let him die clearly believing that Great Ormond Street's refusal to let him travel to a New York hospital had cost him his chance.

Good point! I just read an article about a little girl who was oxygen deprived for ~half an hour. The progress that has been made in regenerating her brain is nothing short of miraculous.

And, if you saw the overwhelming support for GOSH, in the opening of the London Olympics in 2012, you know everyone in Britain agrees with The Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children.......that they ARE the best....(I figured it really was just to build up support for Socialized Medicine, all over the world, but especially here......it WAS before the 2012 election)
I wouldn’t doubt the threat was there, but I doubt Charlie’s parents would stop fighting for him because of such a threat. I know I wouldn’t, if he were my son.
I think the clock was run out, deliberately, and it’s now too late for the treatment to do any good. I believe Charlie’s parents were motivated all along to do what’s best for their son, and their motivation hasn’t changed, but Charlie’s situation has.
God bless Charlie Gard, and smite those who are murdering him.

Agree that Charlie is likely beyond saving. But I wouldn’t be surprised if his parents were threatened, too. They have been fighting the Government since November. He is 11 months old now. He would have been around 3 months old then. How much damage has been done to him as his parents fought hard for his life? Obviously a rhetorical question, but I am heartbroken for them. They petitioned the EU High Court, too, who sided with GOSH. And people want Socialism here.......appalling.
Yes, and if you read comments from British subjects following news reports of Charlie’s plight, you saw that denying him care and killing him are two very popular causes over there. He’s consuming their precious resources, just by being alive. They do not want any money spent on keeping him alive, even if it’s not their money, because as long as he’s alive, his daily dose of Ensure costs them more than they think he’s worth. As long as he’s alive. But that’s not what’s worrying them. It’s how to do it. These things must be done delicately...or you hurt the spell!
The parents were stonewalled by a “National Health Service” who’s endgame is rationing of treatment.
We have a dead infant but living proof of the financial bankruptcy and the moral bankruptcy of the United Kingdom.
This is truly the curse of Socialized medicine.
Keep praying for a miracle, and so that little Charlie’s parents are comforted.
If only Charlie’s parents could have given him treatment when he had a better chance. In fact, as we sadly know, they would not allow him to have treatment even after the long fight.

Charlie Gard’s Parents End Their Fight to Save His Life, Say It’s Too Late for Experimental Treatment”
Europe is over, including the United Kingdom. They can now endure the horrors of the Islamo-socialist society they have created. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has completely outlived its usefulness as there is nothing left in the major European countries that is worth defending.
I think Charlie’s very public fight has opened some eyes over here on the subject of single payer health care, and death panels.
Got to wonder why they gave up. Still hope.
