I have never flown with Delta but have heard quite a few complains about the airline regarding how the airline treats customer's pets that they have shipped to a specific destination. One example was from the 1960s when we were stationed in Germany and lived on post in government quarters. One of our neighbors had their dog shipped to Germany by Delta, and the dog had either died or was very sick when they picked him or her up at the airport.

I did have a bad experience once with Lufthansa once when I flew from Kansas City via Frontier Airlines and then Lufthansa from Chicago to Stuttgart, Germany. The Flight attendants were very snobbish that I swore I would never fly with Lufthansa and never have.
