You love it, I have to move on, quickly. That’s because thinking rightly is more important to me than a momentary feeling. Besides, there’s more than enough beautiful music available that doesn’t weaken me.
I just don’t get the attitude. I listen to and try to understand the lyrics to every single song I hear. If someone sets the Communist Manifesto to music, as Lennon did with Imagine, I’m not just going to smile and say, “Yeah, but listen to how he merges the words with the melody!” If someone’s extolling the virtues of Satan in a musically pleasing way, should I kick back and enjoy that as well? I listen to plenty of liberal artists, but when they use their craft as a platform, I’m out.
