Exactly right. This happens with Supreme Court Justices too. As long as they can move their head a little bit, their aides do the tasks required.
The Senate would seem unlikely to expel a member in this situation. If he's not conscious at all and can't be propped up on the floor, he'll just be "Not Voting" on a lot of stuff.
