[Do the math]

Thanks. I am fortunate to teach upper level math courses. My pass/fail rate in the grad courses are often very good. I feel sorry for the lectures and instructors who only teach freshmen because they are under a lot of pressure to pass more students.

And therein lies a major problem....profs being made to feel that they just have to pass substandard students, who probably NEVER should have been admitted in the first place.

That it has now sunk down to the high school level and is so damned pervasive, is very depressing!
