Well, with all due respect to President Trump, no, Sessions should not have made any commitment to a president that he would not recuse himself in any particular case. As a matter of fact, Sessions, or any AG, should not be consulting with the president on any particular case. It is important for the DOJ to maintain independence from a president, unless you are willing to accept the very real possibility of a president interfering and essentially rendering himself “above the law”.

That is one of the dumbest things I have read today. Neither the Justice Department or the FBI are independent, they work for the President period.
