it's the voters who are collectively responsible for putting morons into high office and keeping them there.

And that's what scares me the most, unfortunately.

Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote about Mars after he got back from a trip there....
He used an alias “John Carter of Mars”.

Yes, but Rohrbacher wants flyover America to send him a blank check for NASA vague & worthless experiments.

Why not Rohrbacher district send checks to America to pay their heating bills.

I think this guy is getting hammered for no reason, i.e. “asked a panel of planetary scientists to speculate” - speculate: “to form opinions about something without having the necessary information or facts; to make guesses.”

IMO, he wasn’t claiming there was a previous civilization, just asking the guys for their suppositions.

From the article: “As Farley noted, observations by NASA’s Curiosity rover and a number of other spacecraft suggest that at least some parts of the Red Planet were habitable for long stretches in the distant past. So ancient Mars may have hosted microbial life, many scientists say; indeed, some researchers think microbes may survive there today, buried deep in the soil, where they’re protected from the high radiation fluxes on the surface.”

Yeah, it was only microbes, but you never can tell . . . :-)

To think these people are our “leaders”!!! What a pathetic bad joke.

If you were picking a pretend legislature to carry out the agenda of billionaires and established corporate entities, you would seek out narcissistic sociopaths who don't care about the Constitution or the well-being of their country enough to accidentally damage the established order, but who crave the trappings of power and the perks of office so much that they can be easily be manipulated by the threat of losing them.

There probably aren't quite 535 of these yet, but a strong majority are already in place.

You don’t find the sharpest intellects in the Congress, do you?

But ol' Maxine is the brightest in her district.

Currently the atmospheric temperature of Venus is about 900 degrees Fahrenheit, give or take a little...

Which was predicted to be about 800 degrees by Immanuel Velikovskiy in 1950, well before the space program confirmed it, in his book "Worlds in Collision". A good read.
