These guys I worked with would go eat hot East Indian food on purpose at lunch then come back and make the rest of us cry until it was time to go home. Problem was...the stench was still there in the morning!
When my guard unit went to Korea for an exercise we worked in metal vans on the back of trucks, very cramped quarters. Two guys started eating Kimchi which works about like your East Indian food. The Major in charge moved their workstation outside where it was 28 degrees until they gave up the Kimchi.
