Well, as some would say, "It's complicated." RIP brothers and sisters.

Of course, 90% of the “documentary” will focus on how unfair it was towards blacks.

And you can bet, Burns will blame Nixon more for Vietnam, than LBJ.

This punk made a bunch of rapists and attempted murderers millionaires. The "Central park 5". Burns made a fauxcumentary about them proclaiming their innocence and NYC Mayor and taxpayer funded anarchist Bill De Blasio saw it and got teary eyed and had the city hand over $44 million to those punks, and if that doesn't tick you off enough, now they are suing for an additional $50 million. I talked to the lead detective in that case, he said before they even got them to the station, they were admitting to it in the patrol car. Not only that, they also admitted it with their parents present and also were caught on a jailhouse phone bragging about it. Yo! Now they living large boyeeeee! Tanks Mistuh Burns!

John kerry liked to call Veterans Baby killers and war criminals then go to Paris to collude with the North Vietnamese. Tet was the biggest Victory of the Military since WWII but Cronkite lamented all was lost, guess he was a communist. Then to top it off the demonicrats voted to defund the war and blamed Veterans for everything.

Ken Burns correctly identifies the Vietnam War as being the point at which our society split into two diametrically opposed camps. I would say rather its the event on which the left and so-called progressive movement demonstrated it had infiltrated and taken over all the major institutions of American governance and society.

I wonder if they will mention the brutality of Communism and the fact that the MSM of the time and the Leftist peace loving hippies of the time tried to cover up this fact.
Right or wrong, we have a very valid reason for being very concerned about Communist China and the USSR and their puppets. We now have proof of the brutality of the Communist regimes. Yet, people still idolize these viscous dictators.

I thought his work on the Civil War and Baseball were both stellar.
The pinnacle of historical documentary.
In spite of the fact he’s a commie, through and through.

His series on Baseball was enjoyable. The Civil War, somewhat less so, but still worthwhile.
However, his series on WWII was utterly unwatchable. It was like reading the diary of a vacuous teenaged girl, and about as deep.
Mr Burns should stick to simple, non-contextual topics like sports.

Burns has been advertising his Vietnam documentary a good six years. PBS has reruned every single series he did. I kept wondering why he wanted to do another series on Vietnam. I don’t know if I can trust him. But PBS did Vietnam A Television History in 1983.

Burns will undoubtedly distract from the Dems’ determination to give away South Vietnam in order to hurt Nixon (and to buy votes by redirecting funds for material support to RVN forces - remember ‘revenue sharing’ to the states?)
He will also claim blacks were more affected than whites. (You can count on footage from big city race riots in the ‘60s.)
He certainly won’t say the war was the beginning of the end for the Soviet Union (instead he will connect the war to escalating tensions in the Cold War).
The only useful part will be interviews with Vietnamese participants from both sides. Those guys won’t be around that much longer and getting their experiences recorded will be of use to a future historian.
Maybe one additional benefit will be giving vets a look at how some of the places they served look today. Burns is a great camera guy.
