LONDON It was a rollercoaster day for the parents of Charlie Gard.
Chris Gard and Connie Yates, the parents of the 11-month-old boy suffering from a rare and almost always terminal genetic disorder, walked out of a British courtroom Thursday morning after arguing with the judge, but returned later in the day.
Charlies parents appeared anxious when they arrived at the Royal Courts of Justice for a hearing that may prove to be their last chance to convince the judge to allow them to take their boy out of the U.K. for experimental treatment. The family believes experimental treatment available in the U.S. and Italy for mitochondrial depletion syndrome has a 10 percent chance of improving his quality of life and reducing the brain damage the illness has already inflicted on the boy.

I agree with the sentiment
She can’t. It’s not a matter that falls under her powers.
Once a final court decision is issued, she might have some power to intervene (it’s never really been tested in a civil matter, although it exists in criminal ones) but while it is before the courts, there’s no possibility of intervention by the Crown.
kafkaesque. who would have ever thought that the socialist death panels would prohibit people from getting medical treatment at their own expense?
i fear this is a glimpse into the future here.
My thoughts on this: IF it were a Royal’s child, say one of Williams, would the British courts go against the parents? I hope everything that can be done for this baby IS done, that way there will be no guilt to add to sorrow. And- since this is a genetic problem, I sincerely hope the parents have no more children likely to suffer the same fate.
I am so disappointed in FOX. When did they lose their compassion? Some of their top people have special-needs children...Brett Baier comes to mind. Are they becoming as heartless as CNN?
Exactly! Dear little Charlie is in my prayers every night.
I literally cannot believe this. If he were my child, and I apologize in advance because I don't know all of the facts ... but I would dress up in a nurse's or doctor's outfit, take MY SON, all business-like and such... and get the h*ck out of Dodge.
Yes, it is. Please see # 27; meant to ping you.
Thanks. SMH
