For those of you that live in SoCal, you know there is a terrible jay walking problem. Mothers with a brood of kids darting across traffic. In this case, there is a crosswalk within .2 miles.

I just looked on Google Maps. The nearest crosswalk/traffic light was .1 miles away.

And, I used a cursive decimal point.
My white privilege is showing.

His mother, Liliana Huaracha, said she was walking down the road that morning to get a haircut with her children. Does EBT now pay for that too?

Crosswalks are for white people. Just the ones painted in white? Are the yellow crosswalks for Asians? Kidding aside, it's sad when a child gets killed like this due to stupidity of the parent. The mother gets run over, okay, but sad for the child.

“Crosswalks are for white people.”
Use to live in a diverse area. Denizens in dark hoodies would step out into traffic at any hour of the night. I had no sympathy at the regular pedestrian obituaries.
An entitled mentality is no match for physics.

California is the worst,, pedestrians have the right of way and step right out in front of cars without even thinking of looking.

That is amazing. She and her kids go darting across a busy, four-lane street right in the middle of it, and her only thought now is how the city is at fault for not having “enough” crosswalks and lights. Not for an instant does she question her own choices.

“Denizens in dark hoodies...”
Dark and rainy night, six lane local road, lots of busy lights and signs, my F250 going 30mph, just a glimpse of non-black socks between the beats of the wipers, locked up brakes, a flash of bright white teeth and eyeballs,...., no need to get wet tonight, gonna stop off for a beer on the way home.

As one who has driven trucks for a living, I know that many, many drivers do not look far enough down the road, scanning both back and forth and near and far.
Anticipating trouble in time for action is key.
Practice looking way ahead!
Also, never received another ticket after I drove truck because I see officer Friendly early enough so I can check my speed.
