North Korea ‘Not Our Responsibility,’ China Says

China has had enough of being asked to answer for North Korea’s actions. In a remarkably forceful statement, the country’s Foreign Ministry spokesman called for an end to what he called the “China responsibility theory.”

In his daily press conference on Tuesday, quoted by Reuters, spokesman Geng Shuang did not explicitly refer to anyone in particular, but it is difficult to think he was not speaking of U.S. President Donald Trump, who has been the most vocal in calling for China to intervene in North Korea.

"Recently, certain people, talking about the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, have been exaggerating and giving prominence to the so-called China responsibility theory," Geng said. "I think this either shows lack of a full, correct knowledge of the issue, or there are ulterior motives for it, trying to shift responsibility."

The issue of North Korea’s nuclear program is a regular feature of the daily press briefings, with Geng usually restating China’s position of abidance to the U.N. sanctions against Pyongyang while maintaining “normal economic exchanges and trade” with the country.

The US does not need to keep China open for trade. India is ready and willing to step in and satisfy all of China’s resources with the added bonus it is a democracy.

What bothers me is NK’s escalation of military threats not long after Odunga gave Iran BILLIONS of dollars. Am I off the mark here? Why doesn’t anyone suggest a connection here?

That’s like saying you’re not responsible for the child you fathered. There would be no NK without the ChiComs and the Soviets.

Excellent news. Now we can proceed to start shooting their test rockets out of the sky without worrying about a Chinese overreaction.

Clinton’s didn’t sell out the US to China/Norks in the 90’s without long range plans. I fear they are unfolding now.

We don’t want to strangle them entirely, just step by step until they see things our way. And why not, it’s the Chinese way of diplomacy too!

Too bad they didn’t feel that way in October of 1950.

Excellent point! The Chicoms can just FOAD and we can set things straight with the Norks. That fat inbred punk needs to be dealt with. It's time to finish the war.

“Just issue an executive order that any nation trading with North Korea will immediately be precluded from trading with the US until the trade ceases, That means you China.”

You do realize that the US has put itself into a trade position with China where that has only the most infinitesimal chance outside of war between the US and China of ever happening?

“Maybe arm Japan with nukes, too?”

No need to, just tell them to feel free to build their own. They’d have two or three in operational stage in about a week and an arsenal in six weeks.
