A group of Iraqi Christians facing deportation under President Trump’s tough new border controls has been given a temporary reprieve, but could still be sent back to face what their attorney calls almost certain death.
A U.S. District Judge issued a stay this week on the deportation of 82 Chaldean and Assyrian Christians from the Detroit area, who have criminal records, but who have served their prison time and paid their debt to society.
Their lawyer, Clarence M. Dass, points out that some of those criminal convictions date back to the 1980s and 1990s and involve drugs and financial misdeeds, not violent crimes. He wonders if his clients have been targeted for deportation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency precisely because they are Christians. ICE denies that allegation.
“It’s peculiar to me that 99 percent of the people who were rounded up on June 10-11 were Chaldeans and Assyrians,” Dass told me. “In Michigan, only two Muslims are among those facing deportation. It seems weird that this happened after Congress declared Chaldeans and Assyrians victims of genocide.”

That said, I doubt Muslim immigrants aren’t committing some crimes too, so maybe there is some discrimination going on. How many muslims in ICE?

This needs to be investigated. If they are serious criminals, get them out. If not, cut them a break for being CHristians.

First I’d like to know if they are even genuine Christians. Taqqiyah would be just the ticket for a group of muzzies with criminal records who thought they’d slip through the gap-the canyon-under Obola or Shrillary.
They’re criminals. We don’t have the wherewithal to retry every criminal who is at our doorstep.

The article only said some of the crimes were old. I suspect many are current.
Just because an immigrant claims to be Christian, doesn’t mean they should have the right to remain in this country.

This said, Donald Trump personally probably would want to look at situations like this to make wise choices. If you come here for asylum, by all means try to behave yourself. At the same time, maybe they DID learn to do that, and now we have grim gruff conservatives with a big broad broom wanting not even to care about such factors because they have had so many headaches with Mexicans and Muslims.
And God grieves, and cautions and warns us.
Totally agree. I don’t care what color Christians are. I don’t care where they are from. We are all under attack by the Islamist monsters. For that matter, I feel the same way about just about any other non-Muslims under assault - Zoroastrians, Sikhs, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, whatever.
We are under mass attack by people who hate us all. To them we are just Dhimmis.
It’s not like they haven’t been brazen in lying about their ages.
What is legal and what is moral frequently differs.
