Its common knowledge that roughly half of marriages today end in divorce. This is up significantly from the 1960s, when about 30 percent of marriages ended in divorce within 15 years.
The underlying social and economic changes that have spurred this increase remain a bit of a mystery. But the topic was taken up in a massive 2016 study conducted by Harvard sociology professor Alexandra Killewald.

My college GF dumped her husband for not making money. She put him through law school and he never made a dime. She’s on her 4th husband now, her HS BF.

I had one friend whose wife divorced him once his business went bankrupt. Other friends got divorced over their careers going nowhere.
And then there are the divorces that wives initiate when their husbands assets and earnings are at peak, where the wives decide to “cash out”.
student loans may be the #1 reason a husband doesnt have as much $$$
Definition of incompatibility: when a husband loses his income, his wife loses her patibility.
It's also false.
“She put him through law school and he never made a dime.”
How could someone make it through law school without the skills to earn a living? A freakin’ paralegal can make good money.
“For richer or for poorer”? Pfffffft!
And people wonder why guys are walking away from this?
“How could someone make it through law school without the skills to earn a living? A freakin paralegal can make good money.”
That’s what I was wondering. If he can’t get a decent job with a law degree, then there is something wrong with him. Bad attitude, expects 200 grand a year starting pay, douchebag, something that makes him unlikeable as an employee.
Feminism destroyed the family. They have made women think there is something better out there than managing a household and raising well-adjusted children.
Oh, goodie! Another thread for unhappily divorced guys to bash women! A regular on FR these days.

a buddys wife left after he lost his “big” job. But he never recovered, was always waiting for another “big” job. So he made no $$ waiting for his ship to come in.
You have to get up off your couch at some point instead of wallowing in your own crap. Get a job, man!

Congressman Hank (Guam is going to tip over) Johnson is a lawyer.
Hell, I could get an entry level job at McDonalds tomorrow and in six months, I'll be running the place and on my way to Regional manager. That's how successful people have to think.
“She put him through law school and he never made a dime.”
But, did he pass the BAR?
It’s also common “knowledge” that divorced women with children earn far less than men, and many are poor. So Harvard is saying women leave men who aren’t making enough money so they can make their own living earning even less?
No. My purely unscientific study says women leave men because their emotional needs are not being met, or he is abusive, which happens to be the case for every divorced woman I know, including myself. In every case the men blamed money instead of their own refusal to participate emotionally in the marriage. It’s much easier to call her a greedy gold digger than it is to face one’s own selfish immaturity.
