IMHO....the Democrat Party will die politically, even before the Mid-Term elections of 2018. There are two approaching Governor elections in November, 2017, this year, in New Jersey & Virginia. While both are right now “rated” “toss-ups”, I believe the Republicans, with unceasing effective campaign efforts, can hold on to the New Jersey state house and with massive Republican campaigning & turnout in Virginia, they can win the Virginia state house.
Republican victories in these two “blue” states would be the “stake-in-the-heart” for the political death knell of the current Democrat Party!!!
