Morning AB, All. As always, thank you AB for doing this thread so reliably and keeping the peace with gentle thread policing. Thank you Bray for weekly written wisdom, Thank all yon contributors for excellent commentary to flesh it all out. We got Rodguy and Cboldt and cousin Mike to add to the knowledgeable commentary.
Below are the words from my daily political diary. It is quite long so scroll on by if not interested. But do stay around and add your commentary and point of view to the thread.
OC Topless Bathers and the Merryland Dept. of Justice, Review of “Shattered” and let’s discuss that boat crash
The emoluments clause means that Trump is benefitting in his business by his position as President of America.
Which he is not.
Trump turned over all his business controls to his sons. And yes, he did own businesses, is this something not allowed in this country? Only lifelong leeches on the gubmint in the form of elected swamp slime, are allowed to ascend to the presidency?
So out of shame the Merryland AG came out, coincidentally, with a clarification on topless female bathers, stating basically that it’s not allowed.
If they weren’t getting all involved in a silly lawsuit with no basis but to harass our President this would have been dealt with long time ago.
As it is, Ocean City sent out word to not bother the lifeguards should one see a female topless bather, but to call the police who can enforce such things.
In my mind I see a uniformed cop walking carefully amid the rolling waves to arrest she with boobs showing.
It was a real mess for a couple of days but it had me laughing.

The container ship appears to have rammed the navy ship with five sailors missing.
It is described by speculation mostly. The captain of the Fitzgerald was not at the helm. Indeed it appears, to this person with limited knowledge of ships, that both ships were being guided and driven by NOBODY!
Or it could be a terrorist attack, or intentional.
Or something.
But trust that there is something odd about that boat collision.

The tragedy of Otto Warmbier, Handel defeats Ossoff.
I’ve been reading up on Otto Warmbier, the young man who visited North Korea alive and vibrant to return home half dead and die within a week of the return.
First I wondered just why on earth, what with this planet being so big and with so many places to visit .would a young American obviously with the time and funds to do so .go to North Korea?
When one looks at earth from space, at night the countries are lit up. All except North Korea which is dark and gloomy.
It seems there are tour groups that conduct trips to “places your Mom would never want you to go”.
So Otto went to North Korea and in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, tried to swipe a propaganda poster off a wall somewhere.
Now scuttlebutt has it that Warmbier was set up by the North Koreans, that the video of him allegedly taking the poster is fuzzy and not provable as being Warmbier.
Whatever the scenario, the North Koreans like to kidnap Americans that they may bribe for money.
Otto was tortured unmercifully, goodness he was in a severe coma when he eventually got here.
And to those very mean, very, very mean people who say Otto Warmbier got what he deserved, no he did not.
Assuming he was trying to swipe a poster for a souvenir, he sure didn’t deserve a year and a half of unstopping torture to eventual death.
He did make a bad decision in going to North Korea but I suppose he meant well.
But days, weeks and months of torture is not what taking a paper poster deserves as punishment.
Get a grip people.
TWENTY FIVE MILLION DOLLARS!!!
The Democrats paid twenty five million dollars to try and capture that seat, hoping that an Ossoff winner would allow the Democrats to flip conservatives the bird, do a nanny-nanny-boo-boo and tell us that President Trump is so disliked even the conservatives are voting for Pajama Boys across the fruited plains.
Heh.
Jeh Johnson testifies before congress, VA press conference over Alexandria shooting, Mark Levin not impressed by Ossoff victory.
Now I know a lot of people change the spelling of their name but most do it in a way that makes sense. JEH just makes no sense.
Anyway, Johnson had no explanation as to why the Democrats were able to destroy their bathroom servers with hammers and such, anything beyond turning their stuff over.
Remember, it was THEIR server that was hacked.
Yet Hillary gets permission to smash her portable computer with a hammer?
So glad that guy’s dead. What a nut job.
So Ossoff does not win that race in Georgia, that all of American interprets to mean that we like Trump. Had we despised Trump like the left snowflakes do we’d have voted for anybody but Handel.
Levin goes on a rant that while he’s happy that Ossoff didn’t win Levin asserts it doesn’t mean anything and the pundits should stop clapping.
Mark then went on to describe how the Republicans have to get off of their high horses and save the constitution, forget silly congressional races with Pajama Boy entrants.
Yes and I do admire Mark for his allegiance to our constitution and I think his notion of a constitutional gathering of states to be a very good one and I resent those who mock the idea.
But Levin needs to know that yesterday’s little victory was a big deal for Republicans, yes, even President Trump.
It seems kind of small minded of Levin to not allow Trump at least one day of joy. It’s almost as if that while Levin freely admits he assessed Trump wrongly, it was going to far to give him credit for the Georgia race.
Levin is wrong about that.
Local Senator caught with gun on carry-on luggage; New Senate Republican health care bill released.
Seems mine own state senator, Brian Pettyjohn, was going on an airplane bound to somewhere and he got pulled off for a gun having been detected in his carry on luggage.
Now there’s been a bit of mockery on this but I mock not.
Though I giggle.
The snarky people remark that the good Senator obviously did not know where his gun was since it was in his carry-on luggage. Not knowing where your gun is is considered irresponsible for gun owners.
I think that’s an over-reaction, although, heh, embarrassing a bit.
As for me, I’m delighted that Senator Pettyjohn has a gun at all and we won’t have to face his vote to take away our firearms in some future Delaware legislative session.
After all, how could he and keep his reputation?
I do not know what’s in that Republican new version of Obamacare and folks, I been listening.
Four senators have come out against it but I think they’ll cave in the end, at least two of them because that’s all is needed to pass the thing.
The biggest issue with the new Senate health care bill is that it does not force people to buy health insurance. High risk pools have been created and one will not need to buy health insurance as dictated by the government.
The four senators against include Ted Cruise, Rand Paul, Ron Johnson and Mike Lee.
Will be reading more in the days coming up and hope to present it better.
Saturday Date-6/24/17
First, is against the law to carry a gun in one’s luggage? What if one needs a gun where they are going?
Perhaps no guns on carry-ons, that makes sense I suppose.
Pettyjohn had just purchased the gun and I must suppose he put it in his carry on to store and forgot, who knows.
At the time the authorities let him go but now news is that Pettyjohn must report to the Worcester county sheriff’s department.
There’s lots of discussion on this matter on the local boards as one might imagine. I defended Pettyjohn because his story is that he just purchased this gun for protection against people who like to shoot congressional types like that guy at the ball field last week. There are people like that out there you know.
With the newness of it and I’m thinking Pettyjohn wanted a gun with him and frankly I don’t blame him.
Then a bunch of sniffers sniffed and batted intellectual eyes and asked me if I should also be let go had I a gun in a carry on or just the congress types get off with breaking the law.
HEY!
Frankly I think if I had done the same thing as Pettyjohn THAT I SHOULD BE LET GO TOO! No I don’t think this is just for congressional types.
And bear in mind that Pettyjohn missed his plane, had to get rid of the gun in the carry on and he straightened out his sins.
What good is making him go to the sheriff’s office and maybe slapping him with some kind of jail sentence?
Is this really the best course of action and I’ll mention again to the holier-than-thou sniffers that last week a nut job almost murdered over 20 members of congress.
Sniffers have really bad memories.
So now there’s FOUR US Senators publicly against the current Republican health bill.
We all have a few drops of God in us, as is my belief, generally in the form of the Holy Ghost. Of course God can’t be in all of us so He leaves a few pieces of himself. Non-believers may call it Karma and many, including me at times, do not listen to those pieces of God He so generously left us.
So I been praying to the Holy Ghost in me, or Guardian Angel, or Holy Spirit, to help me stop being so impatient when I am out and about and, at times, making a nuisance of myself. Thus if the customer in front of me can’t remember her card code and begin to switch from foot to foot and roll my eyes. It’s not nice, I am not proud of it, and my prayers to my Holy Ghost seemed to have helped.
Only it’s not the Holy Ghost inside of my soul, it’s the Holy Poltergeist.
A poltergeist is a playful spirit and the guy running my conscience has a sense of humor.
So me and the next door neighbor go to BJ’s, a big box retail store near us. I pray to my Holy Spirit that I do not embarrass myself in front of my neighbor.
Standing in line at BJ’s, there is a lady in the font in one of those wheel around things everybody rides in these stores nowadays. Only after she is done paying, when she presses the button to move on, the thing won’t budge.
Lots of this and that and various personnel until they eventually get her another one, she jumps upon and rides away. Meanwhile that big thing is right in front of the line and none of us can use the conveyor belt. And the whole time I acted nice, not one eye roll.
We ask the cashier what should we do and she tells us we can come around but we have no conveyor belt on which to place our purchases. Suddenly the Holy Poltergeist within me acts up and I walk to where the cart is and boom, me and another lady in line push the thing out of the way. The thing DOES move and I’ve no idea why the workers didn’t give it a try.
So that’s over and we go through the Burger King drive thru, nobody else in line, and as I pull in front of the order window, nobody says a thing. Meanwhile me and neighbor are yapping, I’m complaining about workers today have no brains or common sense. I realize that almost 5 minutes went by and nobody at the Burger King window even asks for my order.
I yell out “Hello!” Male voices comes back: “I’m going to need a minute”.
Neighbor and I keep talking and again I am annoyed and the Holy Poltergeist within me is getting restless. Two more times we go through this and lookit, at some point in time the guy has to stop needing a minute and wait on customers.
Finally, after a fourth needing a minute, I drive around to the payment window. There is a guy at the window but as soon as he sees me he turns his whole body away from me, very obviously.
Maybe he heard about my scuffle at BJ’s?
Now with an angry Holy Poltergeist I pull up to the pickup window because I really wanted an order of those cheeze-its deep fried.
The woman at the pick up window opens it when I pull up. I ask her what’s going on?
She then gets hysterical. There was a customer there acting like a nut .goodness she goes through this long sobbing story and I realize THEY WERE GETTING ROBBED!!!
Me and neighbor probably save four or five lives.
And my Holy Poltergeist is still laughing.
Otto’s parents I believe learned a gut-wrenching lesson...they I believe were Obama fans...naive, approved of his NK trip...comments since then they seem to blame Obama and thank Trump.
Way to go fish a lot of hard work there
Originally the title was to represent the "Shattering" of the glass ceiling in politics, but it came down to "Shattered" dreams of Hillary and all the campaign staffers who were jockeying for key positions in a Clinton administration.
I think the book is a tutorial on how NOT to run a political campaign
