Yes, he broke the law.
But there should be a way for him to leave the country and apply for legal status.
President Trump often talked about that type of reform during the campaign.
The U.S. Government encouraged this type of scofflaw by not prosecuting and by making attempts at becoming legal extremely difficult.
The way our system is set up, it has been much, much easier to come here illegally, and know that chances of deportation are slim, than it is to come here legally.
That sends exactly the wrong signal, and is why I say the system is broken.
Trump is doing the right thing, enforcing the rule of law. It is what should have been done all along.
You make some good points. Work with me here.
As far as leaving the country to apply for legal status, shouldn’t he have done this years ago, when his 90 day visa expired?
How do we make attempts at becoming legal so difficult? Do you mean we make it difficult for someone to become legal if they overstay a visa? If that’s what you mean, people aren’t supposed to overstay their visa in the first place. They are supposed to go home after their 90 day or whatever time period is up. And then, they can go through the legal process to immigrate to America.
Or perhaps I’m missing something.
Screw that. He needs to go away permanently. AMF.
