Otto Warmbier, a 22-year-old American student imprisoned by North Korea for over a year for attempting to steal a propaganda poster, has died after coming home to Ohio last week. He showed signs of severe brain damage though North Korean officials claimed he had contracted botulism during his imprisonment. His original sentence was 15 years of hard labor but he was released early due to his health. From the Cincinnati Enquirer:

I have been to the Negril area five ties in the last five years, and never have I felt unsafe. I’m sure there are places you don’t want to go, but we have a trustworthy driver that we use every year that knows the lay of the land, I’m sure. We just text him and tell him we’re coming and he’s waiting for us.
It’s a communist dictatorial country. A)he shouldn’t have gone in the first place. B) doesn’t matter what I think....the commies found a reason to arrest him
A, agreed.
But, don’t buy into and continue to spread the lie and justify his death because he “stole a poster.”
He was part of a tour group,do any of the others make that claim as well?
You are believing a communist sociopath? And we wonder why people in the US are sheeple.
He was part of an American tour group that went to NorK. Did any of his travel companions dispute the act for which he was arrested and convicted?
Secondly I lived in Switzerland for most of the 80’s and travelled to communist Hungary and Yugoslavia at the time. And one thing you didn’t do was engage in political activities or deface state property.
You are wrong. Sheep.
How am I wrong, Goat?
You are accusing him of engaging in political activities and defacing state property... with no evidence.
You are taking the side of one of the worst men to walk the face of this earth.
You are wrong.
Did his travel companions dispute the charges - ever? No. Case made, loser.
You are the one siding with the murderer. Who is the loser again?
The arrest and the murder are two separate events...yet you conflate the two issues just like a trained liberal.
You are accepting the propaganda of a murderer like liberal sheep.
I’ve travelled all over the world, Europe, South America, Asia and even muslim North Africa. I have lived overseas for almost a decade. My wife is from Communist China and I’ve travelled there more than 10 times in the past 20 years. I am smart enough to know when being abroad in a foreign land, even as a legal resident working in the country, you are under scrutiny as a foreigner. And to go to one of the known worst police states in North Korea, and for what purpose, and put yourself in such grave risk by engaging in a stupid prank is due to either sheer naivety or drunkenness.
Yes, the sentence was severe. His treatment was severe. You better know the laws before you enter a country and behave while there. Even in countries like Singapore you can spend 2 years in prison for just SELLING chewing gum.
So stop conflating the issues. The NORKS should be held accountable for the death of Otto, but his actions put himself at risk in the first place in a unforgiving police state.
You have no proof that he committed the crime he was accused of committing. Your whole arguments foundation is wrong. You are dealing with a lying, cheating, murdering thug that manipulates the west.
The fact that you give any credence to the idea this kid did anything wrong is your first problem.
You have no proof that he didn’t so stop with your hysteria. You sound like the typical stupid American that has rarely been out of their own home state let alone travelled abroad.
When you are in a foreign land you are subject to their laws. And when you travel to the worst police state in the world, for what purpose, you put yourself at personal risk and no one can help you if you get into trouble. Heed the lesson...
You are a typical media/dictator/propaganda believing stooge.
You are a dumb American...
Not as dumb and gullible as you, thankfully.
Stay in your little safe space snowflake...it’s a big cruel world out there.
