What if....? Let your mind run wild. When Mueller was intro’d recently, he was hailed as a straight arrow, no nonsense mensch. Suppose he intends to root out corruption. What if he’s buddying up to Comey just to get him to spill the beans, etc. He could go down in history as a great man.
I think you nailed it. I too believe Mueller will do the right thing even though that is not being very realistic given the circumstances of the day. I would much rather be an optimist for sure. If I was aware that a friend of mine committed a crime I would certainly advise him to come clean and failing that would not jeopardize my reputation for him.
The fact that Mueller didn’t recuse himself does trouble me a bit BUT maybe Comey isn’t that good a friend and he has more respect for the FBI which Comey doesn’t.
