Mr. Comey’s fevered gavotte of faux-integrity, his energetic denials of his own bias (he should have resigned on multiple occasions) was indeed part of the shield behind which the shenanigans were engaged in. It certainly did concerning the IRS scandal.  It worked fairly well, probably, because it was in accord with the wishes of Attorney General Lynch and tolerated, at best, if not encouraged, by President Obama.

But now the jig is up.

he did go along with Lynch in not making clear to the public that Mrs. Clinton was under a criminal investigation.  And his explanation as to why he did not do so is both risible and frightening: it would have, in his words, created a “duty to correct” should there ever be an investigation; but it is also indicative of a person straining to justify the unjustifiable.

(I would like to take small issue with the phrase, " strenuous tergiversations " I love "tergiversations" 'cause I had to look it up, but its placement totally ruined the rhythm of the paragraph as I fell headfirst over pronunciation.)

It would be interesting to isolate him and apply some pressure to see if he talks, keeping an eye on his relatives.

They want immunity and are sure they can pull off the same sort of thing as the "Orange Revolution" that they pulled off in Ukraine. If they shed Trump, Pence is a lame duck for the balance of the Trump term and won't resist the Congress Uniparty. Then, comes 2020 and what's the expected result if none of the people who have rigged elections for decades have been prosecuted because they all had immunity?

In their view, as long as they can incite violence and put mobs in the streets they haven't lost anything but a single skirmish in a long war.

I believe President Trump has dealt with much more intelligent, shrewder people in his dealings. These guys messing with him are playing right into his backdoor strategy which is, imo, let them hang themselves....btw, I believe Mueller is a left wing supporter as reported by Rush. This is just another facde put up because the other one was falling down....as will this one and the rest.....

I had very high hopes for, and trusted in Jeff Sessions. But I think he himself inadvertantly stated the problem at his testimony this week: “I have served my Country for over 30 years.” THAT’s the problem. He’s one of THEM! And he CANNOT prosecute THEM; his 30 year colleagues.

I think you nailed it. I too believe Mueller will do the right thing even though that is not being very realistic given the circumstances of the day. I would much rather be an optimist for sure. If I was aware that a friend of mine committed a crime I would certainly advise him to come clean and failing that would not jeopardize my reputation for him.

The fact that Mueller didn’t recuse himself does trouble me a bit BUT maybe Comey isn’t that good a friend and he has more respect for the FBI which Comey doesn’t.

To HIDE the TRUTH, it is only necessary to fix the investigation so that a gubermint scam known as a Commission, or an independent counsel or a special prosecutor (whatever) puts some BS in the headlines to hide the truth.

This is about the survival of the DEMONRAT Party. Expect some big lies to be told so that the MSM can continue to lie to hide the real stories.

It wasn't so long ago there were stories floated about what a great guy Come(d)y is. You see how that turned out. I will not be surprised if Mueller sells his soul too to save the RATS.
