One person injured in shooting on Colorado Springs Army post
One person was wounded in a shooting on Fort Carson Thursday afternoon that caused the Army post to seal its gates and issue a warning to shelter in place.
Initial reports of an active shooter on the post were inaccurate, Fort Carson officials said after a suspect was taken into custody. The shelter-in-place order was lifted and all gates and facilities reopened by 5:30 p.m., spokeswoman Dani Johnson said in an email.
“A suspect is in the custody of Fort Carson law enforcement and the incident is under investigation,” she stated.
The shooting happened near Bad Toelz Road in the center of the post and the injured person was in stable condition, she said.
No details about the shooting or who was involved were released.
