So I hear George was arrested for DUI. While I’m sure he is getting more scrutiny than most these days, high blood alcohol is an objective condition that anyone who is of such high profile should avoid.
Many comments over a multitude of his and (especially) Jason’s posts have asserted that he is a lush. While I think he deserves a break, including alcohol, for all the difficulties he has been through, I wonder if these posters might have some grain of truth in their claims.
Posters bashing Webb are uninformed hecklers.
Webb is receiving real-time leads from credible instigators/pros as confirmed in the multitude of things his investigations have revealed.
He prefaced this ‘dirty bomb’ episode as coming from a cadre of six FBI Field and LEOs led by a 30-year LEO veteran who had never been wrong before. He said it could be bad intel but he had a duty to act on it.
The Maersk Memphis was in Newark, NJ before sailing into Charleston. No one knows if they dropped cargo there.
Regardless, Webb is financially independent and will be released soon on bond.
Having a beer is not a crime. DUI infractions are often frivolous and unnecessarily prosecuted but they are easy to process and add up to statistics that create a semblance of achievement of sorts. Like parking tickets with ever increasing penalties, the blood alcohol limits seem to get lower and lower with penalties going up and up.
Years ago I once parked outside a university bookstore and ran in quickly to get change for the parking meter. I was gone about 3 minutes and ran back out to the curb to find an employee from an adjacent store at the curb with a cell phone telling local police my license plate. THREE FRICKING MINUTES! Along comes a meter maid and I explained I had run into the store to get change. She said she could not undo what was started. A passerby told me it was their revenue scheme, calling the meter police ‘revenuers’.
I don’t drink myself so don’t care. But Webb enjoys his beer and wine, and a babe on the side. I am not his spiritual judge. He will be back on the road soon enough.
