That’s a totally ridiculous statement and the author is motivated by Israeli interests, not US interests.
ISIS has already committed a major terror attack in the US.
This is the new line the neocons are taking, using fear of Sunni terrorism to whip up hostility to Shiites who are in conflict with Israel.
It’s deliberately dishonest and similar to the neocon lead pivot from the 9/11 attack to “we must invade Iraq.”
I personally have a grudge against them from Beirut. I think the word “foundational” is key to that quote.
These guys were scouting out security at Pearson Airport in Toronto and also JFK. They even found employees at the airports willing to carry bags on board planes and tell them where cameras and magnetometers were located, uniforms, and other details useful to an attacker but not a tourist.
