Not exactly.
IIRC - the SKS takes a 7.63x39 while the AK-47 is chambered for the 7.62x54 round.
The difference is how much powder is behind the round.

No variant of the AK-47 fires 7.62x54R. Mosin Nagant and the Dragunov SVD are the popular rifles that fire it.

You don't recall correctly. The SKS and the AK47 both eat 7.62x39. The Mosin Nagant and Dragunov both eat 7.62x54r, which is more similar to a .30-06.
