American Hospital Association says that Critical means a lot more than that. Look it up.
Just going by experience with family who recently suffered stroke and stroke like symptoms. She was addressed directly and put in critical care unit for the reasons I stated.
I don’t doubt the definition you and others are citing...but doctors and hospitals undoubtedly have the ability to tailor policies that suit the conditions. I think that is what happened to my relative; she was fully conscious and recovering but still was watched extremely closely.
