Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich appeared on The View Tuesday morning to discuss all things Donald Trump with the ladies. At one point, host Jedediah Bila asked Gingrich about Trump’s support among the public. “Are people frustrated with him, are they disappointed with him? What are they feeling out there?” she asked.
Gingrich expressed his surprise that the President has been able to garner any level of support from the public after the “endless barrage” of negative, even hostile press he has faced since he announced his bid for the White House.
Gingrich cited a recent Harvard study which found that 93% of the media coverage of the President was negative prompting host Whoopi Goldberg to make a bizarre, perhaps delusional claim about the relationship between Donald Trump and the media:
GINGRICH: I think it’s amazing, if you look at the — for example, CNN’s 93% negative coverage according to Harvard, 93% negative, I think it’s a miracle that Trump has any approval.
JOY BEHAR: Oh, my God.
GINGRICH: Constant unending barrage —
BEHAR: I have a question, too.
WHOOPI: So, do you mean, because I recall––and maybe I’m crazy––but I recall from the time the gentleman came down the escalator until the time he won, he was 24/7 on every television on every network forcing– making one of the head of the networks saying, ‘Yeah, it wasn’t good for America but it was great for us.’ It was all positive until people started asking questions. Now —
GINGRICH: It wasn’t all positive!
SUNNY HOSTIN: It was live coverage of Donald Trump was saying.
WHOOPI: I’m sorry, I —
GINGRICH: It was all noisy but it wasn’t all positive.
WHOOPI: No, no. 98% of it was positive, Newt.
There is no doubt that the media coverage of Donald Trump was not quite as hostile when his candidacy was considered by many to be nothing more than a publicity stunt. The coverage become increasingly more negative as Trump’s chances of victory became more apparent eventually devolving to all-negative-all-the-time coverage from most media outlets. But, even in the early days, 98% postive?

Can’t figure where Caryn gets her numbers, but every morning, the local paper East of SF has two stories:
1) How great the Warriors are
2) What a buffoon/loser/crook President Trump is
Can’t think of the last time I saw an article in that paper that was even REMOTELY positive about Republicans in general or Trump in particular.
She is a very gifted comedian but sadly is no longer that. Everything else about her is not good. Today she is naught less than a left wing raving lunatic whom is truly ignorant.
She should have stuck to comedy. I liked her greatly as a comedian. When she turned political I found her vile and very stupid.
Exactly Correct. The media made Donald trump the Republican canidate as they thought he would crash and burn. What they did not realize is they gave us the candidate that would win.
They regret their mistake dearly and now are trying to destroy him along with the old guard of the Republican Party.
It is very simply the establishment media, the establishment democrat party and most unfortunately the establishment Republican party (may John McCain rot in hell) against the non establishment President. Donald Trump.
He is a threat to them all. If you have liked the last 16 years of Bush and Obama you are a fool. They are the establiment.
McCain nor Dole would have been much different. Obama was simply a Marxist and McCain and Dole were and are Globalists.
The last president that put the United States first was Ronald Reagan and now Trump has done the same. They must destroy him or be destroyed.
