I might be wrong, but I think that when you are testifying before a Senate (or House) committee, you are in their house, playing by their rules. They can interrupt you, yell at you, but you can’t do those things to them. Sessions being a recent Senator, knows that and is acting accordingly.

I have been with Generals and Admirals before the Senate Armed Services Committee when they were testifying. There are no such rules that you have to bow down before these people who sometimes think they are gods. Furthermore, I guess you never listened or watched a the testimony of trumps OMB director (it’s on YouTube). He shot back with Senator Sanders and other Democrars time and time again and would not allow himself to be steamrolled like Jeff “Recuse” Sessions.
