Another Canadian flight broke the gliding record of the Gimli Glider. Air Transat 236 ran out of gas on the way from Toronto to Portugal and had to land in the Azores.

Yup,I remember seeing a documentary about that incident.Another one I forgot to mention was a British Airways 747 that,some time in the early 1980's,had all 4 engines shut down after having flown through volcanic ash...which caused the engines to seize up.I remember seeing a report that passengers were kneeling in the aisles praying during that crisis.
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s plane ran out of fuel too.
