Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Sunday that Congress should investigate whether former Attorney General Loretta Lynch pressured former FBI Director James Comey to cover for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
"I think we need to know more about that," Feinstein told host Brianna Keilar on CNN's "State of the Union."
"And there's only way to know about it, and that's to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that," Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said.
Comey testified last Thursday that he felt "queasy" after Lynch asked him to characterize his probe into Clinton's emails as a "matter," rather than an investigation. He told the Senate Intelligence Committee that such a request would match the wording of Clinton's campaign. Feinstein, who is a member of the Senate Intelligence panel, said she would've also felt queasy.
"I would have a queasy feeling, too, though, to be candid with you," the longtime Senate Democrat said.
She added that an investigation separate from the ongoing probe into Russian interference in the election is needed.
"I don't think we should mix the two," she added.
Feinstein said she has not yet decided from Comey's testimony whether President Trump's interactions with the ex-FBI director amount to obstruction of justice.
I don't know whether it's obstruction of justice. I dont intend to draw any conclusions until investigations are finished, she added.
Trump on Friday denied that he asked Comey to let "go" of his investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn and that he requested Comey pledge his loyalty to him prior to Comey's dismissal.
The president added that he is "100 percent" willing to testify about his interactions with Comey under oath.
Yup.
Why don’t you just “let it go” so we can put all of you in prison together later?
DiFi doesn’t really mean it.
I think it’s more of a case of “Oh! Mah! Gawh! The whole thing is about to explode. I better get on record for saying something against it before I go down too!”
There’s been a lot of voices from the Dems saying Hillary needs to go away. They want to put up a black woman or other exotic who will operate within the framework of the old Obama coalition. This might be a play from within the Democrats to push Hillary out.
Hmmmm, does DiFi want to bury the Clintons once and for all?
“DiFi doesnt really mean it.”
Yup, now in the order of RAT excellence (RINO too) their own pink little a$$es are more important than anyone else’s! And besides, Hillary is standing in the bowl with her hand on the lever, so it’s time to “help her” pull it!
“And there’s only way to know about it, and that’s to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that,” Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said.”
It’s a set up. Once the judiciary is involved now you can accuse Trump of a crime.
This is safe. They can shove Hillary under the bus and run it back and forth over her an Lynch too without damaging any potential future candidates.
Get her to say something equally damaging about Gillibrand, Booker, etc.
Well, with Pelosi doing almost a daily rant against President Bush and Feinstein wanting to investigate Lynch and Clinton, we can safely assume dementia has struck hard in the Dem ranks.
Given that it’s always politics > principles with this bunch, I’d say you are spot on
That was my take. They need to separate the party from the Clintons
“[Dianne Feinstein] Dem: We need to investigate whether Lynch gave cover to Clinton campaign”
Well DUH!!
“And there’s only way to know about it, and that’s to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that,” Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said.
ANd the COver up continues, she only wants the opportunity to hide and conceal the damning evidence to protect the Ruling CLass, McConnell will give her the green light to do it because he is part of the Swamp.
Sheila Jackson Lee in 2023!
Except she’s gonna have to do somthing about carrying the names of Stonewall Jackson and Robert E Lee.
Go after Lynch and you get obama and hillary. A Trifecta.
My first thought as well.
And then I considered the Democratic Party owes nothing to the Clintons. Hillary committed the unpardonable sin of pushing everyone else out of the way only to lose to Donald Trump. They'll never be in a position of power. They have nothing to offer. Under the bus they go.
In 2015, Horowitz complained that the IG's office was having difficulties getting access to FBI documents needed to do their investigations. The FBI was denying the IG's "access to certain records involving grand jury testimony, wiretap information and credit reports."
Within his scope of investigation he will also:
"...look into allegations that Justice Departments assistant attorney general for legislative affairs disclosed non-public information to the Clinton campaign and/or should have been recused from the case."
Peter Kadzik was Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs at the time, and his name showed up several times in John Podesta's email breach. Apparently there was/is a close relationship between Kadzik and John Podesta, and, by extension, the Clinton campaign itself.
According to another website: Kadzik lobbied the Clinton White House to pardon Mark Rich. "And who did Peter Kadzik interface with to get Bill Clinton's attention for that Mark Rich pardon? Clinton's Chief of Staff at the time, John Podesta. And that's how Kadzik also ended up as Podesta's personal attorney, where he 'kept him out of jail once.' "
Plus, "Horowitz will examine allegations that members of the Justice Department and employees of the FBI improperly disclosed non-public information."
It looks like the FBI has been leaking profusely since at least last summer or early fall. By his dropping Lynch's name during his testimony, he's added yet another aspect to the IG's investigation. Whether or not anything comes from it, is yet to be seen.
