I called Senator Angus King's offices a few minutes ago to make a few remarks about his recent shenanigans. I live in Maine, and asked for a response. Gave name and address, they have my phone number.
My remarks covered two specific points, and for each point I expressed what I wanted. In other words, I wasn't just venting an opinion. I said that all in all, his actions do not reflect well on his (King's) personal character.
The first point was his questioning of Sessions yesterday, on the subject of executive privilege. The exchange was designed to make Sessions look like he was hiding something he had no right to hide. But Sessions had explained this twice before in the hearing, and Senator King well knows (he was governor of Maine) that he has the right to give up his own privacy, his aides do not have that right. I said that Sessions deserves a public apology.
The second point was on an appearance he made today on CNN transcript). I wanted to know what hypothetical action had Stone, or Manafort, or Paige, or anybody else might have conspired or coordinated with the Russians. Because unless the Senator can name an underlying offense, he is using innuendo on top of vague accusation to smear people. I also said that I believe Senator Kings knows what the investigations cover, and he is keeping the public in the dark. All of this detriments the smooth operation of the government.
