WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange called on the public to support Winner,[13] offering a $10,000 reward for information about a reporter for The Intercept who had allegedly disclosed helped the U.S. government identify Winner as the leaker.[24] Assange wrote on Twitter that "Winner is no Clapper or Petraeus with 'elite immunity'. She's a young woman against the wall for talking to the press."[25]
On June 8, 2017, Winner pleaded not guilty to "willful retention and transmission of national defense information," and was denied bail. A reference in a jailhouse phone call to her parents made reference to plural “documents” suggesting to authorities Winner may be involved in other leaks of classified information. Prosecutors allege she told her mother she “screwed up” and also that she smuggled out a flash drive she attached to a top secret computer while serving in the Air Force as a “test run.” [26]

Winner’s name, Reality, was given to her by her late father, who picked the name because he wanted his daughter to be his “real winner,” Winner-Davis said. Winner was born in Alice, but the family moved to Ricardo when Winner was about 1 year old, she added.
“When I got pregnant with her, we had just had her sister, and I named her sister,” Winner-Davis said. “So when I get pregnant with Reality, her dad said, ‘You named the first one, I get to name the second one. And he stated that he wanted a real winner, and so he said, ‘I’m going to name her Reality Winner - she will be my real winner.’”
