His brother reportedly told investigators that he knew Salman Abedi was planning an attack, but didn't know where
Killer Salman Abedi was radicalised in 2015 through the internet and friends in the UK, his brother has reportedly told counter-terrorism investigators.
Hasham Abedi, 20, claimed his older brother also begged their mother for forgiveness in a telephone call days before he carried out the Manchester attack , report news agency Reuters from Libya.
Abedi, 22, who lived on Elsmore Road in Fallowfield , detonated a nail bomb packed with nuts and bolts outside the Manchester Arena following a gig by star US singer Ariana Grande on May 22.
A total of 22 men, women and children were killed and dozens more were seriously injured.
Hashem Abedi was arrested in Tripoli, Libya, by Tripolis Special Deterrence Force known as RADA the following day. Their father Ramadan was also held just hours later also in Tripoli.
Both are believed to remain in custody.
The news agency quoted Ahmed Bin Salem as a spokesman for the Special Deterrence Force, a counter-terrorism force aligned with the U.N.-backed government in Tripoli.
Hashem said that he and Salman got the ideology of Daesh [Islamic State] in Manchester in 2015 from the internet and some friends in the UK, said Bin Salem. He added that they used to watch videos and had sympathy for children in Syria and wanted to do something for Daesh to help.
The news agency reported that Salman and Hashem flew to Libya on April 18 and Salman travelled back to Manchester a week before the attack after telling his parents he was going on pilgrimage to Mecca.
Bin Salem said Hashem told them that Salman was planning to carry out an attack but he did not know where.
He said Salman also phoned Tripoli on May 15 to say goodbye to his family before the attack'.
Salman phoned Hashems phone on the day of the attack to talk with his family. The mother had refused to talk with him because they were angry with him as he lied, Bin Salem said.
Hashem knew about the attack and convinced his mother to talk to him. The mother said during the investigation that he asked for forgiveness from her and she could not understand why.
Brother of the Manchester Arena suicide bomber Salman Abedi is released without charge
Police have now arrested 21 people in connection with the investigation into the atrocity. Of them, 12 have been released without charge and nine remain in custody.
Inquests into the deaths of the 22 are due to be opened and adjourned by a coroner in Manchester tomorrow, Friday.
Headline calling him “murderer” rather than “terrorist” is typical Leftard diminishment of the crime. The guy did not just murder someone in a momentary fit of passion, he was calculating political TERRORIST who organized a mass-murder spree for religio-political aims in the name of ISLAM.
It is an outrageous weakening of the language to fail to call him a “terrorist.” Almost as bad as when the MSM refers to terrorists as “militants”.....
So, the brother and the mother knew their family was planning to bomb, but they kept quiet. Now, they admitted. Yet the officials let them go. Who are they after? The terrorist family is right there and they are free.
I suppose the motive is something that can never be known. Haashem was the equivalent of a Catholic who was an altar boy.
Meanwhile in Australia the national Saudi soccer team wouldn’t observe a minute of silence in memory of the Manchester victims. Because — and this is important — because it is ‘not in keeping with their culture’.
In other words, the victims were kafirs, so they get no sympathy from Muslims. It was a legitimate act of jihad — every Muslim’s duty in their sick, perverted (but 100 percent correct according to Islamic teaching) thinking.

>> “had sympathy for children in Syria”
Awe, isn’t that precious. All the UK needs is more love and political correctness, and everything will be okay.
>> because it is not in keeping with their culture.
Because Islam is a war plan. Fact.
Thank you! If he called his mom and begged for forgiveness, SHE KNEW!!! If she had turned him in immediately, it would have stopped the carnage.
SHE is the terrorist! Lock her up!!!
Accessory to murder should be prosecuted.
Yes. Jihad is the duty of every Muslim. Jihad of the sword (Manchester), jihad of the tongue, jihad of money, or jihad of the pen.
There is no sympathy for kafirs. There is no provision for charity for non-Muslims.
It's important to also note there is no Golden Rule in Islam. There is no such thing as treating other humans as you would want to be treated; the rule is to treat other Muslims with respect, but others get no respect as fellow human beings. Non-Muslims do not have rights as Muslims do, and so are treated accordingly. That's the Muslim "culture".
>> That’s the Muslim “culture”
And that, sir, is military conduct.
I would contest your observation. Killing children is not military conduct. It has been unfortunate collateral at times but never the goal.
