Yes, I am seeing that as well....but even if afterward it was done with the intention, as he said, to spur a special counsel, which by doing so was an attempt to channel the Russia investigations he had no business doing. He could have easily recommended well prior to his being fired.
IMO Trump and his officials knew well Comey was up to no good all along..just a matter of when to bring the axe down.
