Comey said he asked “a friend of mine to share” the memo he had written about his conversation with Trump “with a reporter.” He said the person was “a good friend of mine who’s a professor at Columbia Law School. “I thought it might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”
The friend is Daniel Richman, a former federal prosecutor who teaches at Columbia Law School. The reporter is Michael Schmidt of the New York Times.

Daniel C. Richman, a Columbia law professor and friend of Mr. Comey’s, who helped woo him to Columbia in 2013, said the former F.B.I. director “would be welcomed back, and he knows it.”
Mr. Richman, who has spoken to Mr. Comey several times since he was fired, said it was too soon to say what Mr. Comey would choose to do next.
Well this hearing looks like Comey is interviewing for his next job!
