“If they really are pushing to ‘renegotiate’ the deal, as they say, I don’t see why they wouldn’t go.”

Didn’t France, Italy and Germany say that Paris Accord cannot be renegotiated?

France, Italy, Germany defend Paris Accord, say cannot be renegotiated (Issue joint statement)

I’m glad that Trump is at the wheel.

All we have to do is quit sending money. There’s no law that requires us to do anything.

That’s total BS.
It’s not a treaty unless approved by Congress.
POTUS cannot unilaterally make treaties.

It’s self regulating. The US won’t fund it nor participate in it. If Paris wants to put the US’s name on it, have fun.

first step, kick out all UN reps..and charge them rent for the years they have been here

2nd declare we like carbon and do not see it as a threat

3rd, charge the UN a carbon tax each time they speak from some hellhole, not in the US

The legal issues of treaty versus deal and the issue of ratification is one thing.

But, this is ridiculous in a functional way as well: We are not going to partially implement something painful, knowing full well we are going to have to undo it later... we will be pragmatic about pulling out, and not do anything in the first place.

No point in spilling milk knowing you would be sponging it up and putting it back in the jug - might as well not spill the milk to begin with.

Seems to me he made is very clear when he made the announcement that the US was OUT as of NOW...the day of the announcement.

We already left it. No enforcement, no recourse for the socialists to take our money.

I haven’t heard President Trump say it, so until he changes his stance in an announcement I will believe what I heard him say in the Rose garden. We are OUT.

We cannot be a party to an int’l agreement that not only did the Senate ratify, but was never sent to the Senate for ratification. Trump should never have said we were withdrawing. He should have said we were never a party to the agreement as per our Constitutional requirement.

If you notice the name, it’s “the Paris Climate Deal” or “the Paris Climate Accord”. It’s never called “the Paris Climate Treaty” for good reason. To be binding on the United States, a treaty needs Senate approval, and the departed petty tyrant knew it would never be approved by patriots. Our Senate never voted, so it’s not binding under American law. Bye bye, Paris!

Yes. Since the “agreement” was never ratified by the Senate the US is not bound by any of its clauses.

Well, seeing as the U.S. never joined...

Obama can pay into it all he wants.

The WH did not say it would follow the accords

Regardless of what some pundits think this was never ratified. It is not in effect

We ain’t got to do nothing
