If you don’t embrace winter activities and go skiing and sledding and hot chocolate by a fireplace singing Christmas Carols, then you cannot understand why we love all 4 seasons here in western New York

I love all of those things, but we just get in the car and in a couple of hours we are at say Lake Tahoe, or some other area in the Sierras, and we can spend as much time as we like there, then drive back to the coast and enjoy the moderate winter there. And as far as skiing is concerned, we have “real mountains” on which to ski. BTW, Mammoth Mountain is still open as this is being written. With last season’s big snowpack they will probably ski there until winter returns. Top of Mammoth Mountain, 11,053 ft. Base: 9,500 ft. And the views are spectacular. Used to spend some time in Corning. Love the Finger Lakes!
