WASHINGTON Despite repeated efforts by President Trump to curtail refugee resettlements, the State Department this week quietly lifted the departments restriction on the number of refugees allowed to enter the United States.
The result could be a near doubling of refugees entering the country, from about 830 people a week in the first three weeks of this month to well over 1,500 people per week by next month, according to refugee advocates. Tens of thousands of refugees are waiting to come to the United States.
The State Departments decision was conveyed in an email on Thursday to the private agencies in countries around the world that help refugees manage the nearly two-year application process needed to enter the United States.

So here comes the flood of "refugees".
WTF is going on over at the State Department?
(Rhetorical question)
New York Times??? Really...another ‘fake news’ article...
Do you really think that Sect. of State Tillerman would allow that to happen???
I think someone is stirring the pot of ‘fake news’ again...
Triple dog dare you fake news, there must be conflict between Trump and his cabinet.
What is news is that the number was arbitrarily increased.
This is Good News for the NY Slimes.
We should take none until we have secured our borders.
And if we take any thereafter, none of them should be Muslim of any stripe.
I’m sure they’ll all hop right on the gravy train to Welfare City.
They love muzzies at at the SD.
We had better not malign the UK because of their foolish immigration policy. WE are as foolish.
Just waiting for our equivalent of a Manchester disaster.
This is not fake news. It was already known yesterday on FR.
I am disgusted. I should have known better than to believe things would change.
If the federal government needs an enema, that's where you stick the nozzle. I'd go so far as to suggest that State presents a more classic profile of the genuinely dreaded "Deep State" than Langley or Greenbelt. The Humanities have become a nightmare because of post-Modern, neo-Marxist nihilism, and because not every humanities graduate can find a home where at least some real talent is necessary, they can always drift along in the Foreign Service without any merit whatsoever.
If you want to understand why Europe is committing suicide and who the people are who hate the United States for a living, head on down to Foggy Bottom. I'll wager three out of five employees at State really would like to transform the United States into Brussels, they hate you and I and don't care whether we know it. Trump simply has to get a handle on State or America will never recover its greatness in our lifetime.
Promises made, promises kept? Not yet.
We’ve had our equivalents.
San bernadino, orlando, there’s probably others but these topped the Manchester attack in deaths.
Fire the parties responsible and then Tweet why they were fired.
Last I looked, the State Department is part of the Executive, which is headed by President Trump.
You echo my opinion. This effort to drain the swamp cannot be half hearted. At this point it would seem to be more than half hearted. Now I want to know why anybody on Trump’s staff who had anything to do with the Russians is still on Trump”s staff. He does not need anyone spouting the NYT lines of mantra...it’s always present. He does need people who are implacable about supporting Trump in draining the swamp.
Where are they, the “Implacables”?
“the State Department this week quietly lifted the departments restriction on the number of refugees allowed to enter the United States.”
WHY????? There BETTER be a damned good reason for doing this.
It’s the state department, doing what it does regardless of who’s POTUS, over his objections, and against his specific instructions, if need be.
