'Game of Thrones' author George R.R. Martin compares Trump to King Joffrey

The creator and one of the main stars of the hit HBO show "Game of Thrones" feel President Trump is a "petulant" child and called the president a "con artist."

"I think Joffrey is now the king in America," Martin told Esquire magazine, comparing Trump to the power-hungry young King Joffrey in the hit HBO series. "And he's grown up just as petulant and irrational as he was when he was 13 in the books."

Joffrey was one of the most hated villains in the series and was often referred to as sadistic, egotistical and a spoiled brat.

I’m sure a lot of depravity took place behind the scenes in LOTR, and some incest. But what’s the point in including it in the story line? It doesn’t factor into the larger canvas and doesn’t add anything beyond porn value. Anyway, Sauron and Melkor were sort of like fallen angels so I don’t know if they even had sex lives.

Yes there is some nobility in Westeros, but without a direction to face one’s moral compass it’s always a secondary concern. Right and wrong become only what you make yourself. Hence the meaningless “game of thrones” where power is the only thing that matters before you die. And everyone seems to make their personal vices their top priority in life.

I was thinking of reading his books but I guess he’s an idiot.

One reviewer I have much regard for noted, and this is a paraphrase...just look at George RR Martin in real life. He's always been a fat little troll, and if you read any of the sexual encounters in his books you can immediately tell this guy has never had an normal sexual relationship with a woman in his whole life.

Needless to say, any temptation to read his stuff went "bye-bye."

Let the leftists keep underestimating Trump, while he runs circles around them. Trump ran 500 companies and properties worldwide, he built some of the most magnificent buildings in the world, he crushed a strong primary field, and he beat the Wicked Witch of Chappaqua against all odds. If the leftists keep up their fantasies about “petulant child” Trump instead of recognizing what he’s actually doing, he might just coast to re-election—especially since the “press” is once again giving them a false sense that everyone thinks about Trump the way they do (just like they did before the “shock” election).

“Tolkien’s world was one of nobility vs. evil. Martin’s is one of moral depravity vs. even more moral depravity.”

That’s a great point. Tolkien’s work is fundamentally based in his Catholicism and his love of traditional, heroic mythology. It is very values based. Martin’s work is replete with postmodern “ethics.” The heroes aren’t really heroic. The bad guys are disturbing and disgusting, but may have redeeming qualities. Nothing’s ennobling; it’s just a dog-eat-dog, morally twisted fantasy world.

Eomer said, 'How is a man to judge what to do in such times?'
'As he has ever judged,' said Aragorn. 'Good and evil have not changed since yesteryear, nor are they one thing among Elves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house.'

Moral absoluteness. Accept no substitutes.

If he had compared Hillary to Cersei , he might have scored some points for intelligence

A lot of these cable series air “inside the episode” spots where the writers or actors talk about their characters or plots - I can’t flip the channel fast enough!

I just hate hearing these self-adoring actors, writers and directors talk about themselves. Well, I would hate it if I ever did hear it but I’m pretty quick with the remote.

Game of Thrones is actually a good show - but there is one character who I couldn’t stand - and I stopped watching for a while because of it: Joffrey. What an obnoxious ass and I doubt the actor was any different in real life.

After they killed him off I started watching again. Compare him to Trump who I can’t get enough of.... the writer is so far off the mark its sad.

It’s funny how clueless the writers and actors can be about what the viewers like - I have to believe they stumble onto something good which makes the show appealing - but listening to them discuss their work it’s clear they have no idea what they did right.

More like Jon Arryn. The Media is doing their best to assassinate him.

Granted. I’m a fan of the sci-fi/fantasy genre. The difference between the two is that you can’t criticize the latter for its scientific inaccuracies.

As a Stannis fan I can say that Hillary is at the very least like TV Show Stannis.

Hillary, "So if I burn my only daughter alive at the stake I might increase my chances of success? Hmm... Let me look into it."

Dany is also a terrible person.

She’s killed way more people than all of westeros combined.
