The 24% is reflective of the proportion of registered voters that have participated in the election today.
Only 2% of the vote has been officially tabulated.
See MT SOS webpage for clarification.
3 percent of precincts are completely counted. Total votes counted is 26 percent of registered voters.
Assuming turnout is half of registered voters, about half of the vote is now counted.
Furthermore, almost all of the early vote is counted (all that’s left of the early vote is smaller, rural counties).
The early vote is usually the other side’s advantage. The election day vote is usually our advantage. If we’re even or a tad up in the early vote, we should win by a comfortable margin.
According to Decision Desk, nearly 200K votes have been counted. Montana has just over 700K registered voters.
