The race to fill Montana's sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives took a violent turn Wednesday, and a crew from the Fox News Channel, including myself, witnessed it firsthand.
As part of our preparation for a story about Thursday's special election to air on "Special Report with Bret Baier," we arranged interviews with the top two candidates, Republican Greg Gianforte and Democrat Rob Quist. On Wednesday, I joined field producer Faith Mangan and photographer Keith Railey in Bozeman for our scheduled interview with Gianforte, which was to take place at the Gianforte for Congress Bozeman Headquarters.

At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, "I'm sick and tired of this!"
~snip~
Scanlon (Gianforte's press sec) later issued a statement saying that Jacobs "entered the [campaign] office without permission, aggressively shoved a recorder in Greg's face, and began asking badgering questions.
Later, the statement added, "After asking Jacobs to lower the recorder, Jacobs declined. Greg then attempted to grab the phone that was pushed in his face. Jacobs grabbed Greg's wrist, and spun away from Greg, pushing them both to the ground. It's unfortunate that this aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist created this scene at our campaign volunteer BBQ."

“Eyewitness on Twitter says no bodyslam or anything like it happened.”
That is what I have been reading. Witnesses say this never happened.
Yeah... good to know. :-)
Gianforte should send Fox a fruit basket when he wins.p
I hate reporters but this looks bad for Gianforte.
Body-slammed a reporter. In other words, he did what we all want to do.
I’m a former accredited journalist and I would like, in my dreams, to do more than just body-slam some of these leftist aholes.
They are a disgrace to the profession and to those who died (esp. in Vietnam/Cambodia), bringing us the truth about our noble efforts there.
He may not win, but I’m so tired of the no-stones GOP hiding in fear all the time. Look at them: They have the House, the Senate, and the White House and all they can do is piss and moan that an “outsider” is running the WH. Well, screw the GOP. Grow a pair and start doing something for US for a change instead of only working to get yourself reelected. Free cell phones for dead beats...really? That’s the best you can do for us? You’re pathetic...
Some say it happened, some say it didn’t. Let’s assume it did happen. So what? If I were in Montana, I would still vote for this guy over the songwriter.
Not mine. I couldn't move there, and register to vote fast enough to make it...
Maybe next time?
Moderate, aren’t you.
Fortunately, more and more people are sick to death of the liars in the lying msm and they lies they constantly pump out at us.
This guy may not win but there’s also a growing portion of our pop that is also sick to death of pussy footing quislings, knee crawling appeasniks and “moderate” back biters in the GOP.
That is, after all, half the volume of the swamp that needs draining.
I think the neighbors could hear me laughing out loud at your comment. LOLOL
Murdoch kids are hell bent on destroying Fox News
I grew up in Montana and there’s a lot of Montanans don’t like jackass reporters. They hate the media even more in these extraordinary times.
Only the snowflakes in Montana will care and they were going to vote for him anyway.
AMEN...100% SPOT ON!
Gianforte for leadership position!
At minimum White House Press Secretary!!!
If some rude asshole did not get out of my face then I would do the same. If you violate someone’s comfort zone, then expect bad things to happen.
>Many politicians claim they are going to Washington to fight for their constituents, this one really means it.
Awesome.
>most voters expect our elected officials to have a better temperament
I expect anyone I help elect to defend themselves, just like this person did. Sure, the snowflakes and those that resemble my cat will protest, and they may outnumber decent people, but they must be fought.
Get in someones face and expect a response or whine like a baby.
Two reporters and a cameraman there when they say it happened.
No pictures.
I remember the big fuss attempting to get Lewandowski arrested in the Trump campaign. There was video of it from several angles. Nothing came of it.
Reporters said it was a violent attack.
Hmmmm...
