RE: the photo of our POTUS and the lovely Melania looking at the Pieta: It looks like the plexiglass that has been up protecting the Pieta isn’t there anymore. Did it get removed? Hubby and I have been to St. Peter’s twice since 1996 and both times the plexiglass was up and around protecting the Pieta. There was that crazy Hungarian who had attacked the Pieta with a hammer in 1972, that’s why the plexiglass had been put up.
It looks to me like they are in between the plexiglass and the statue; where us regular people don’t get to go.
