The man tasked with investigating possible meddling by Russia in the 2016 presidential election a probe that will likely encompass President Trumps recent firing of FBI Director James Comey once called Comey one of the finest people Ive ever met.

Mueller was a confidante of Comey during the initial incident, backing him up and reportedly offering to resign alongside him should the need arise. After Comeys testimony in 2007, Muellers notes were subpoenaed by Congress as a way of verifying the account (which Bush and then-White House Counsel Alberto Gonzalez offer a differing version of).
When Comey was initially called to Ashcrofts bedside, his first call was to Mueller who reportedly responded: Ill be right there.
Now hes tasked with evaluating Comeys accounts and recollections as he tries to play arbitrator in a mushrooming saga thats clouded Trumps nascent presidency.
Trump and Cruz said fawning things about each other too. For a while.
Mueller should resign/recuse.
As an example, I was once pretty close to Glenn Beck. He certainly won’t have me on his show now, and if asked to prosecute him, I would in a second if he appeared guilty.
Mueller appears compromised already!!!!
Comey talks with Mueller on Sept. 4, 2013, before Comey was officially sworn in at the Justice Department
Theyve been described as law enforcement twins and BROTHERS IN ARMS
“Investigation” starts off compromised. Deep State witch hunt to take out a sitting president.
Once again, James Comey and Robert Mueller two respected FBI veterans have found themselves sharing the same high-profile headlines.
The two mens working relationship can be traced back to at least December of 2003, when Comey joined Mueller in Washington after he became John Ashcrofts deputy attorney general, according to a 2013 Washingtonian article about the two mens long0standing relationship.
He and Mueller spent many hours together, developing a close partnership and watching together the disarray in the government over how to respond to the unfolding war on terror, Washingtonian notes. They shared a horror at the poor quality information infiltrating the upper reaches of government.
The article goes on to point to personal similarities as well as professional. Both men were educated at Virginia universities Mueller at the University of Virginia, Comey at William & Mary.
Just years apart in the 1990s, they both gave up their top-tier private law firm jobs to return to the trenches of prosecuting criminals Mueller as a junior prosecutor in Washington, DC, and Comey in Richmond, Virginia, Washingtonian reports. Both men were rising stars mentored and guided by Eric Holder in the 1990s during Holders time in the Justice Department under the Clinton administration.
Their relationship was made stronger during an incident in 2004. At the time, the Los Angeles Times reported, Comey, Mueller and a number of other law enforcement officials were on the verge of resigning in opposition to a Bush administration plan to reauthorize a domestic surveillance program that was launched after the terror attacks of 9/11. President Bush eventually agreed to modify the secret program after both men jointly intervened an experience that is suspected to have drawn them even closer.
This week amid allegations that President Trump pressured Comey to drop a probe into former national security adviser Michael Flynn the ousted FBI directors associates have praised his truthfulness and credibility.
Its a quality that many Republicans and Democrats believe Comey shares with Mueller, his predecessor.
Regardless of your chosen career, you are only as good as your word, Mueller told William & Marys graduating class in 2013. You can be smart, aggressive, articulate, and indeed persuasive. But if you are not honest, your reputation will suffer. And once lost, a good reputation can never, ever be regained.
Whatever happened to “conflict of interest” issues in this matter?
Thinking that Meeting should not take place .
Just watch
Mueller needs to recuse himself. NOW!!!
You’re exactly right. I am so sick of it.
Comey will speak to special counsel Mueller before testifying publicly, Chaffetz saysEx-FBI Director James Comey will talk to the special counsel overseeing the Russian investigation before testifying publicly, Rep. Jason Chaffetz says
Lawmakers are seeking testimony on the events that led to President Donald Trump firing Comey.
I see Chaffetz tweeted that Comey wants to meet with Mueller before he testifies. Frankly, that right there should disqualify Mueller from serving as Independent Counsel. How independent can you be when you’re meeting, privately with one of the people you will be investigating? It’s no different than Loretta Lynch meeting Bill Clinton on the tarmac.
Like I say, I’ve had that relationship with several people.
Two years later, we can’t even talk. It’s life.
