On July 10, at 4:19 a.m., gunfire was detected in the District's Bloomingdale neighborhood. Not five minutes later, police found Seth Rich, a 27-year-old Democratic National Committee staffer, lying on the ground, dying from a bullet wound to his back. A conscious Rich was transported to the hospital; by daybreak, he was dead.
Nearly one year later, Rich's death remains one of America's thousands of unsolved murders and the focus of endless conspiracy theories, spread this past week by Fox News, alt-right social media, a local D.C. news station and the Russian embassy in Britain. The reemergence of the conspiracy theory this week, which did not lack for real news, revealed plenty about the fake news ecosystem (or to use BuzzFeed's useful phrase, the upside-down media) in the Trump era. It also happened to cause untold pain for the Rich family, which has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the so-called private investigator who led this dive back into the fever swamp.

Here's what we learned.
TV news can be an easy mark. This iteration of the Seth Rich story started when the District's own Fox 5 ran a Monday night exclusive, citing one source a Fox New legal commentator, Rod Wheeler for a big break in the investigation. Reporter Marina Marraco reported that conspiracy theories could be proven right, as Wheeler was saying what had been rumored since last year: Rich might have leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks, making him the target of an assassination.
You have information that could link Seth Rich to WikiLeaks? asked Marraco.
Absolutely. Yeah. That's confirmed, said Wheeler,

I really hope that Kim Dotcom has the goods. I’m sick of all the hoopla. If he does, the hoopla will just be starting of course, but at least it we be the truth instead of all the shiiiiiste.
Uh. He's broken my BS meter.
Remember the constant teasers during the election? If he had proof, we'd see it by now.
If someone wants to identify themselves as the leakers would wikileaks confirm it?
We know it wasn’t a robbery or mugging.
Please Mr. Postman tell me more. (it’s coming whether you like it or not. maybe you can plea to God to stop it)
“The WaPo is by far the least believed print source of news”
We can thank Bezos for helping to keep readers of the Compost in line with the Globalist agenda. Orwell and Rand had no idea just how accurate they would be.
Hi Nic,
Flack is always worst over the target. Of course the Clinton campaign killed him. Only an idiot would imagine otherwise.
WaPo running flack.
Seth’s title was said to be “ “voter expansion data director,” which sounds like euphemism to me.
Actually, we don’t know if it was robbery. It has long been typical for Democrats to distribute money surreptitiously to ‘leaders’ in the black and other communities as a GOTV measure. Rich may have been transporting money for purposes that the DNC can’t admit to.
from the comments section.
EXCERPT:
The Seth story is hardly fake news and needs to be followed up for jutice to be served. Consider the oddities:
1. Julian Assange all but admits Seth was the source of the DNC emails and offers a $20k reward for information into his death. Say what you will about wikileaks but misinformation isn’t something they are known for.
2. There is video of the death which shows two people briefly stalk him, shoot him twice in the back and then run away, taking nothing. How that gets ruled a “robbery” is mind-boggling.
3. Key pieces of evidence, including his computer are unaccounted for.
4. The neighbors, including those who heard the gunshots, have told news reporters that they’ve never been contacted by the police. Why?
5. The parents are oddly satisfied with an investigation that has turned up nothing new since about 2 hours after the crime
6. The parents claim to know Seth didn’t send the DNC emails to wikileaks, how would they know that?
7. Seth had motive and IT level access. His parents describe him as idealistic. This was a major cheating scandal, the DNC basically pulling the wool over our eyes in the primary! Seth seems like the kind of the person who would have been bothered by corruption like that.
8. There is hearsay evidence from a PI that a government official has indeed verified Seth sent over 40k email to wikileaks, not saying its true but it should be followed up. He also claims the DC police have been ordered to “stand down” in the case. Further, he originally had a contract with the parents to investigate but the DNC contacted the parents shortly after the contract was signed to talk them out of cooperating. Why?
Though protest too much, me thinks.
It is great to see that the Washington Post has its top reporters carefully investigating all aspects of the case.....not!
Tell that to Seth Rich's family.
Dave Weigel the “Journolist” orgaizer is back at the Wapo it seems. Remebering his past crap - http://www.mediaite.com/online/wapos-dave-weigel-resigns-after-more-journolist-e-mails-surface/
RE: Tell that to Seth Rich’s family.
Did you read the article? The Rich family has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the so-called private investigator.
READ HERE:
TITLE: Family of murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich threaten private investigator with legal action after he claimed the 27-year-old ‘had WikiLeaks links’ only to recant his comments a day later
He was taken down for his knowledge. He couldn’t be trusted.
3 back channels. Nothing was touched.
Please save the country, Kimdotcom!
As usual, the Left are Science deniers: If the murder hasn’t been solved, then you can’t PROVE it’s not true.
I think John Nolte (formerly of Breitbart) coined the term Ben Smithing.
Here’s what you need to know. We covered it. There’s nothing to see. It’s all a right wing conspiracy. Now let’s get back to the important matters... like Russia conspiracy theories.
A post yesterday quoted an anonymous doctor involved in Seth Rich’s emergency treatment that there were two entry and one exit wound. The claim was that he was stabilized, had the buller and a section of damaged intestine removed, (I think) some repairs to his liver and was going to have more surgery that day to reattach the intestine together. Then the police came in, restricted room visits to just his primary doctor and he died. In the opinion of the anonymous doctor he should have survived. I would like to see what a real autopsy would say was the immediate cause of death.
