When Americans lost their fondness wor hats, a bit of fashion died in this country. Still remember my dad and mom both wore hats in their day (as did my grandparents). In today's world it becomes just another item to keep track of (sorry, poor sentence structure) I love hats. Hats are like shoes - a woman can never have too many and there is always a new look just around the corner. Perhaps this is why the older movies are so fondly watched. Women's hats: one didn't leave the house without one perched atop her head.

I’m not a hat person myself. I’ll freeze before I put on headwear. Maybe because of the Easter bonnets I was forced to wear as a kid or other hats that ruined my hair. Watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s yesterday, I certainly admired all of Audrey’s beautiful hats!

It would be great if hats came back—imagine what Melania, Ivanka, Tiffany, Vanessa, Lara , Kai, Chloe and Arabella Trump could do with hats! But let's thank our lucky stars they hadn't come back during the last two presidential terms. I can't even.

I remember as a young girl adoring the hats of my fashion idol, Audrey Hepburn. She wore hats better than anyone, including Jackie Kennedy:
