Problem is they will have to take out the entire staff since all the staff will be well aware by now of the problems that happened with Rich. That doesn’t mean they won’t take out the entire staff, not above the capabilities of the regime especially with no law enforcement there to stop them.

Never ceases to amaze me how when one player touches another, the “touchee’s” arms and legs seem to explode in four different directions at once followed by interminiable rolling and agonizing on the field. Would much rather watch hockey, *especially* the playoffs.

yes, Hockey, loved to play when I was young.

You are right, I don't get it - Quarterbacks having special protection, One team of guys to play offense, anther team of guys to play defense. What pansies, as bad as the diving no good lazy-ass soccer players who have the Hollywood syndrome every time someone shows them up

Text of Trump's speech

This speech is magnificent.

I stand before you as a representative of the American People, to deliver a message of friendship and hope. That is why I chose to make my first foreign visit a trip to the heart of the Muslim world, to the nation that serves as custodian of the two holiest sites in the Islamic Faith. ...

Our goal is a coalition of nations who share the aim of stamping out extremism and providing our children a hopeful future that does honor to God. ...

America is a sovereign nation and our first priority is always the safety and security of our citizens. We are not here to lecturewe are not here to tell other people how to live, what to do, who to be, or how to worship. Instead, we are here to offer partnership based on shared interests and values to pursue a better future for us all.

Here at this summit we will discuss many interests we share together. But above all we must be united in pursuing the one goal that transcends every other consideration. That goal is to meet historys great testto conquer extremism and vanquish the forces of terrorism. ...

But, in sheer numbers, the deadliest toll has been exacted on the innocent people of Arab, Muslim and Middle Eastern nations. They have borne the brunt of the killings and the worst of the destruction in this wave of fanatical violence. ...

The true toll of ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, and so many others, must be counted not only in the number of dead. It must also be counted in generations of vanished dreams. ...

This region should not be a place from which refugees flee, but to which newcomers flock. ...

But the nations of the Middle East cannot wait for American power to crush this enemy for them. The nations of the Middle East will have to decide what kind of future they want for themselves, for their countries, and for their children.

It is a choice between two futures and it is a choice America CANNOT make for you.

Hugh Hewitt is unlistenable. IMHO. Dittos for Medved.

Prager, Elder, and Gallagher are good, but Rush is still king.

Speaking of King, anyone listen to Andrea Shay King? She has a live blogtalk show at six PM West Coast time, but you can catch the podcast if you want to listen later.

-- Nothing short of brilliant ... --

For our part, America is committed to adjusting our strategies to meet evolving threats and new facts. We will discard those strategies that have not workedand will apply new approaches informed by experience and judgment. We are adopting a Principled Realism, rooted in common values and shared interests.

Our friends will never question our support, and our enemies will never doubt our determination. Our partnerships will advance security through stability, not through radical disruption. We will make decisions based on real-world outcomes not inflexible ideology. We will be guided by the lessons of experience, not the confines of rigid thinking. And, wherever possible, we will seek gradual reforms not sudden intervention.

We must seek partners, not perfection and to make allies of all who share our goals.

Read the whole speech. What a contrast with the platitudes of Obama. Now, what Trump says may end being some form of platitude (words without followup), but he is at least assigning roles and responsibilities in a way that makes sense from a "world of nations" perspective.

Why isn’t Trey Gowdy, the handsomest guy in congress-thought I’d throw that in there, out demanding a special investigator into the death of Seth Rich? Why isn’t Lindsay Graham, John McCain, McConnell....take the entire day, one after one after one, stand on the podium and demand special investigation into the death of this young man? Americans will sit up and take notice if we had an opposition party that....eh, was against THE MURDER OF POLITICAL OPPONENTS!!!! There’s our problem people.

When the culture is rotted to the core, there is nothing to be saved. The Congressional record of 1963 explained how the commies would take over the media AND THE SHOOLS.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

IMHO there is not going to be any change when half the population is riding-in instead of pulling the wagon and PUBLICALLY WANT the huge FED nanny state. That might be why the GOP is always hiding under their desks and when one or two speak up - e.g. Cruz, Lee, and Paul - tried to filibuster the funding of Obama/SCOTUScare, they were roundly criticized by the their own party AND most of the "conservative" talk show hosts.

Check this it’s unreal, comey is deep state, i knew it!!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3553445/posts
...............................
Don’t believe the fake-media story that Trump made a mistake or huge gaffe by firing Comey. Don’t believe the media narrative from the left that it was an attempt to silence Comey from some investigation into Trump. Don’t believe the RINO narrative that Comey is a good guy just trying to do his job in terrible circumstances and the timing was bad. Don’t believe the lie that Comey was admired and respected by career FBI investigators and agents. Don’t believe the lie that Trump’s “tweets” are not professional and have no strategic purpose. His tweets are weaponized and deadly.

James Comey is a poisonous snake of the highest order… a deep-water Swamp Denizen who has been highly paid to deliberately provide cover for high-level corruption by the Clintons and Obama. He is has been central to trying to destroy the Trump campaign and then the Trump administration from the start. He is as dirty as they come in DC. He had highest-level cover (the FBI no less) and was deep into an effort to eliminate Trump. Trump had to move hard, fast, and at exactly the right time to cut the head off the snake without getting bitten by the snake or being finished by the other swamp denizens.

Begin by noticing how the President fired Comey when Comey was 3,000 miles away from his office, that Comey had no inkling he was being cut, that all his files, computers, and everything in his office were seized by his boss Sessions and the justice department. This was not a violation of protocol, it was tactical. Notice how Prez Trump compartmentalized the strike and did not inform any of his White House “staff” to prevent leaks. Notice how he emasculated Comey and the swamp denizens by letting them know in a tweet that the Attorney General got information (surveillance “tapes” from the seizure of Comey’s office) to let Comey and his handlers know that Trump’s DOJ has the goods on them. This was a brilliant, strategic and totally imperative move at exactly the right time against horrible, evil and corrupt powers infesting our government.

The swamp is on notice that the President is on to them, they are sweating bullets because their criminal games of corruption are being pursued and they know it. They are screaming and ranting because they are desperate denizens of the swamp who are beginning to realize they are roadkill.

I would like to hear this investigation justified, first of all, by one of the principals. Rubenstein, Sessions, or Mueller.

Dying to find the law, statute, rule, or suggestion, that allows the damn thing.

Presuming it is true that no Special Prosecutor is called for, in the absence of a criminal act, I should think the public has a right to hear first, the foundation in law that permits Mueller to search for a crime rather than prove a criminal charge. There is no charge, after all.

The “seriousness of the allegation” doesn’t cut it, coming from the political enemies of the new administration, and collecting and capturing and printing out whole conversations by Trump to Australia, and by Flynn to a banished Russian ambassador(s) is illegal, without the knowledge of the president. Outrageous.

Mueller being put on point against the administration and addressing nothing on the FBI and Justice Deptartment collusion with Hillary is a retching future for Trump and for the nation.

-- Dying to find the law, statute, rule, or suggestion, that allows the damn thing. --

I noticed that on reading Rosenstein's grant. The authority cited by Rosenstein did not include 28 USC 600.1 - Grounds for appointing a Special Counsel

The Attorney General, or in cases in which the Attorney General is recused, the Acting Attorney General, will appoint a Special Counsel when he or she determines that criminal investigation of a person or matter is warranted and -

(a) That investigation or prosecution of that person or matter by a United States Attorney's Office or litigating Division of the Department of Justice would present a conflict of interest for the Department or other extraordinary circumstances; and

(b) That under the circumstances, it would be in the public interest to appoint an outside Special Counsel to assume responsibility for the matter.

This is a weird oversight, seeing as Rosenstein did cite 600.4 for jurisdiction. I take it as a deliberate oversight; which tells me that in Rosenstein's mind, the grounds for appointing a special counsel do NOT exist.

However, beyond having grounds for an investigation in the first place, the statute requires conflict of interest and public interest prongs. Rosenstein cited those.

As for existence of an investigation, that threshold was crossed by Comey. The grant describes the scope of Mueller's investigatory view. "The Special Counsel is authorized to conduct the investigation confirmed by then-FBI Director James 8. Comey in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on March 20, 2017."

Read into all of that what you want. My takeaway is that Rosenstein sees the investigation as a politically-motivated witch hunt, and he wants it out of the FBI.

He has a good (conflict of interest) argument that he should not be the one taking up Comey's investigation, because he had Comey fired.

The public interest angle is impossible to satisfy. The DEM machine ginned up its own outrage from thin air, and Comey went along with it. That outrage won't be put back in the bottle.

Thank you for the superb clarity. An explanation such as this one deserved a lot more air time, for the people to get a deserved walk through of the distinctions of law and in statute— of what is said and left unsaid, as you graciously point out.

If this is going to be a “silent coup”, it is we who are silent compared to the rabble and it is we who could lose this thing, by our own continuing silence.

Many thanks, Cb.

While I love this attack on the DNC, I am at a loss to figure out just what legal theory would support a non-member of a political party suing the party. Sanders is not a Democrat but an Independent. Can someone explain this coherently.

My understanding, which is based on superficial skimming of news reports, is that Sanders has dropped his suit, although he was running and a DEM candidate for president under DEM party rules.

The suit that is still in court is a class action suit brought by voters, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Bernie Sanders supporters are suing the DNC: Here's what you need to know

That article includes a link to the complaint, and the complaint lists the claimed grounds for relief, starting on page 27 of the complaint.

The claimed legal theories for money damages are: Fraud, Negligent Misrepresentation, Violation of 28-3904 of the D.C. Code (Defendants misrepresented as to material facts that had a tendency to mislead), Unjust Enrichment, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, and Negligence.
