I learned a little of Fortran using punch cards in the early 70’s. One wrong punch and you had to key the whole card again. The computer had an air conditioned room of its own. Even if the rest of the building was stifling, that computer stayed cool.
LOL, same here, it was Fortan and the mainframe was a big as a closet. Even 10 years later, when we had PC’s and the air conditioning went out, we got to go home when the building got to 88 degrees inside - only because we needed to shut down the equipment. The computers weren’t allowed to work in that heat - but it was ok if we did.
