See comments for more information on the legality of taping by the President.

Assuming that Trump made the tapes (if they exist) is an improper assumption.

But nobody is going to confess to taping it, because that would also be illegal.

Not true. In the Federal District of DC, it only requires one party consent. Now having said that, I think Trump was, once again, implying something. Like "wiretaped", I don't think he literally meant "Tape". What he could be implying is that the deep state is still recording his calls without his knowledge and that there may be a "tape" of the phone conversations somewhere.

No organization is using “wire taps” or “tapes” any more, but the those terms are still used for various reasons. They refer to an activity (monitoring, scanning, capturing, filtering, etc.) but can be denied under oath.

Some people were listening when “the definition of “is” is” defense was first used.

It was known by Trump that Comey was an activist for the DNC or uniparty. He never should have never met with Comey without attorneys present given he is under investigation by Comey’s people.

The nasty leaks about Trump started when he announced he was running in 2015, and those same leaks went into hyper drive on Nov 9, 2016/.

When ANY organization or Company is having a problem of leaks, the quickest way I know of is to tell different stories to different people. KEEP A LIST of who & what you you said......

Then when a particular story appears that implies or states what ‘you said’....you can spring the trap.

I would be furious about any leaks if I ws running a small company-—and I can well support Trump being furious about leaks in the Trump Administration. This isn’t just an affront to Trump’s status as President-—this could be dangerous to the whole country & our security.

I say-—Trump set his own trap-—and those who think they are sooooo important & have the right to leak ANYTHING deserve tpo be fired——forthwith.

Comy has been all over the map with his decisions. Either you are in support of the security of the USA or you are NOT-—There is NO IN BETWEEN in MY world.

I think that EVERY single person of authority who has served in the Obama Administration should be removed-—down to a janitor if necessary.

You cannot leave traitors inside any job where they can do damage. I know a life-lesson story about a person who was given a 2 week notice instead of being handed a 2 week paycheck.

The damage she did to the organization in that 2 week period was monumental.

Good grief - that is one of the worst articles I have read in a long time. Did no one take note of all the errors - LIES - in it?? There are enough there to topple an 18 wheeler...

Clapper WAS NOT FIRED - he resigned from his post after the election. And he wasn’t DCI - he was Director or National Intelligence - DNI!

“”Larry Tribe said if (as reported) was grounds for impeachment but “quickly came off the mark” - WHAT? What did he say and when did he backtrack?””

“Trump needed to know if Comey was one of the big leakers because NYT and WA PO have made no secret of their bloodlust when it comes to destroying Donald Trump!!”

What on earth did that sentence even mean? So the Washington Post and NYT hate Donald Trump and Trump needed to know if Comey was one of the leakers??????? Connection to NY Times and WA PO???

“James Comey who is accusing the president of the U. S. of an impeachable offense.”

WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN? Has Comey made any statements since his firing that only the writer of the article happened to see/hear?

I wouldn’t put up any of that author’s articles in the future if he can’t be bothered to take the time to get it right!

I’ve been hearing about “fake news” for a long time now and wondered why it was called “fake news” just simply because people preferred not to believe something but this article DEFINITELY fits the description.

Heard Joe Degenova say last night specific laws also allow the president to record his conversations.

The taping wouldn’t be illegal—DC is a one-party consent state, which means just one of the parties needs to consent for the taping.

Jeesh!

Here's what might have happened...
  1. Comey is the one who recorded Trump at their dinner. He and Clapper were going to use the tape to get Trump.
  2. Trump suspects that Comey taped him.
  3. Trump fires Comey while he is in California, away from his office.
  4. Before Comey can get back to his office, Trump's people get the tapes out of Comey's office (or wherever he had them).
  5. So Trump tweets:

James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!

  6. Thus, Comey learns that Trump is in possession of his tapes.
Just MHO...

Then Trump springs his trap, using his favorite bullhorn: his Twitter account and its several million followers.

I don't mess with Twitter, but I did "follow" President Trump there about a month ago. The number of followers then was 24.1 mil. As of today, the count is up to 29.3 mil.

Trump fu? Is that some kind of play on “kung fu” or just a typo?
